Akihiko Honda's Teiken Promotions Inc. has announced that "El Nino de Oro (Golden Boy)" Jorge Linares (23-0, 14 KOs), a Venezuelan living in Tokyo, will face ex-WBC 122-pound champ Oscar Larios, Mexico, in a quest for the WBC interim feather belt at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, on July 21. It will take place underneath the Bernard Hopkins-Ronald Wright showdown

The 21-year-old Linares, after an excellent 145-5 amateur mark, came to Japan to make a professional debut here at the age of seventeen under Teiken Promotions in December 2002. He grew up soundly to continue his winning streak and beat up everybody he faced. Linares, a stylish hard-hitting boxer, experienced fighting out of Japan, as he defeated Hugo Rafael Soto and Jesus Perez in Venezuela, Rafael Castillo in Panama, Jean Javier Sotelo in Argentina and Denchai Sor Tiebkoon in Korea. Linares was also victorious in all other 18 bouts in Japan.

I love Linares,Larios will be tough,a good fight indeed!

Not only that they got Kassim Ouma Vs. Ishe Smith and they got the Jhonny Gonzales Vs Navarro fight too.

I see the Ouma-Smith as a snoozer not really liking the way their styles match up....

Jhonnys gonna overwhelm Navarro.

Navarro used to be one of my fav. prospects back when he started off with Anchondo, Luevano and Bojado....

Nice, this is looking like a terrific card, they making up for the Mayweather v DLH undercard.

I gotta disagree Mick, Kassim comes forward 100% of the time and Ishe just stands there 100% of the time. Kassim is no Sechew Powell, hes gonna put constant pressure, I think this fight ends in a K.O. either way. Hoping Ouma knocks him out. I dont know alot about Navarro, but I like Gonzales, 4 of his 6 losses were early on, and he actually lost his first 2 fights. Later knocking out the second guy he lost to. He fights any and everyone, I think hes slick too. Vasquez got lucky he knocked him out so late I think Jhonny was winning.Im soo glad I finally got Shotime, so I can see the Vasquez -Marquez in aug. ;D

Larios is a good solid fighter.. He actually seems to be becoming that guy who the young stars test themselves against.. A great fight for them..And he gets lots of decent fights..But thats not the rep he really wants..

The fight is very interesting.. very entertaining.. But with Linares.. What i have seen of him has been more polished.. He seems to have more of a boxing style then that of someone like Vasquez who had some great wars with larios..

Also.. Probably the biggest thing aside from excellent matchmaking in this fight is the fact that its on the undercard of Bhop - Winky.. And it seems Linares is going to break the american stage.. As its not quite the same in asia.. Lol
