advice on injury
hi all
i'd like some advice/info on hand injuries and boxing..
would a break/shattered knuckle stop me from boxing?
i'm a fan of the sport and have noticed that many boxers have hand injuries during their careers, either as 1 off's or persistant problems
but i've never heard the specific injuries, maybe this is to protect the boxer?
i shattered my knuckle(right hand, small finger) 8 years ago & initially thought i'd lose the finger as the sugeons couldn't do a lot..
that was a good few years ago and thankfully i've still got all my digits :)
i've been to a few martial arts classes and own a bag but i've never really punched at more than 40% since the injury
i can move my hand normally but i guess i'm scared of breaking my hand again
i've been told that u should only really punch with 3 knuckles(closest to thumb) so if my technique was ok i shouldn't make contact with the injured knuckle?
i'd like advice from anyone that has experience or knowledge of a similar injury(shattered knuckle)
i know it's not a common injury for joe bloggs but i'm hoping it's not too uncommon in boxing
i'd like to start at a gym but don't want to carry my concerns into the gym with me, i'd love to learn to throw a punch and not worry about my hand lol well not as much anyway ::**
please advise, should i be happy with 40% and what i CAN do? or can i train through this, improve and move on from the injury?
thanks in advance

Re: advice on injury
I shattered the knuckle over my index finger but not to the extent that you did! It stopped me training for about 4 months but that was all. I think u shud ask Von Milash because he very recently posted a number of ideas on how to strengthen the hands and wrists.
Man that injury must have been excruciating!!!
