When was the last big fight in Mexico?

Does anyone know?

I was just thinking about this. I can remember Chavez vs. Haugen drawing a record 130,000 in Mexico City back in about '93. I believe Morales fought Junior Jones in Tijuana in the late 90's. Has there been a really big fight in Mexico since then? I can't think of one.

I understand that most big fights are going to be in Vegas, but it's a shame more fights haven't been in Mexico, especially when you consider how many great Mexican fighters there are right now. Barrera, Morales, the Marquez brothers, Vasquez, etc....

Imagine the atmosphere of a Barrera-Marquez or Barrera-Morales fight in Mexico?

Barrera said he wants to fight in Mexico City, that was when he announced that 2007 was his last year. I love those electric atmospheres atmospheres, the Klitschko fights in Germany are awesome aswell are the Calzaghe and Hatton fights in the UK. That's why I want to see Pacquiao fight in China, just to see what it's like.

I hope Barrera does fight in Mexico, that would be awesome.

In what city would you want to fight for the first time or return to fight in the last year for Barrera?

We would love to fight in Mexico City but we know that the big fights are held in the United States, especially Las Vegas. We are going to discuss it with Oscar and see if we can make this dream come true and have the pleasure of fighting in my native city.

I know man atmosphere all over the world can be great, I just hope we could have more fights all around the world not just vegas all the time. But i don't like it when certain fighters don't fight much outside their homecountry.
