Sugar Ray Robinson movie in the works?
Back in summer of 2005 I made a Sugar Ray Robinson tribute that has been circling around the internet (its on youtube). I put my email at the end of it and every once and awhile someone emails me about the vid. But I got an interesting email...
"Hello,
you dont know me but I am a writer and my mentor has just finished a movie script about Sugar Ray. After reading the script I feel like I know these people and o see your video bring them to life I was wonderfully amazed. Thank you so much for this. cam attest the writer of this Sugar Ray movie wrote Dead Presidents and In Too Deep and he also saw your video, I wont have his comments until tomorrow but once again, great job.
Michael James"
I looked it up on IMDB and found his "mentor" who was involved with some big movies.

What do you think about the possiblity of a Sugar Ray Robinson movie? Will his life story make for an interesting movie (assuming one is made)?
Re: Sugar Ray Robinson movie in the works?
I'm surprised no one has done a movie about him yet, universally recognized as the greatest fighter of all time I would have thought it would be a interesting story. Sports fans in general know who Sugar Ray is even if they are not boxing fans.
Re: Sugar Ray Robinson movie in the works?
So who would play Sugar?
I think Wesley Snipes would be good for that role.

I don't know if you are still an active member of this site. But I have read this post and is very interested. I am an actor in the San Francisco area. For the last 5 months I have been transforming myself into Sugar Ray Robinson. Please take a look at this video and I would love to connect with you as to how I can be a possible prospect for this role.
Thank you for your time. You can reach me at natescott @ yahoo dot com

Re: Sugar Ray Robinson movie in the works?
Read his autobiography and it is a very interesting life he led, in the ring he had it all, and he controlled his career not the mob.
Re: Sugar Ray Robinson movie in the works?
I'd love to see a sugar ray robinson movie. if micky ward has a movie dedicated to him (which I actually thought was done really well), then I think robinson definitely deserves one of his own. Boxing is all about heart and determination, which always makes for great films.
