Let us consider this ..Regarding Judah..
No not zab..
It is time for people to stop clowning.. Im taking a stand and saying..I think Yoel Judah is great trainer!
Yes he sounds a bit silly during fights, He is loud..And you can put money on him saying boom boom boom
But he is just passionate..Listen..Zab is his son.. And he doesnt ever BS him.. He tells it like it is.. And he told him last night.. Cos he saw that zab needed to be busyer and that he had it in him to hurt miguel..
Obv its fair when your someones father to say do this for your family etc etc.. Cant really say that in the same way to your fighter when he isnt your son..But Yoel was doing a good job on his part..
The way he gets to zab and does his best to motivate him is great..
He should be recognised better as a great trainer imo..
He told him to stay close and throw the close counter punches..Short strong punches ..And they worked..
WHat'dya think?
Re: Let us consider this ..Regarding Judah..
haven't seen the fight yet, but yoel is passionate but he lacks better game plan for zab and I don't fully agree with him getting zab fully focus. I always thought the father and son corner is formula for disaster. No doubt yoel got zabs back whenever a riot breaks out though so thats one great thing about having yoel in zabs corner ;)
Re: Let us consider this ..Regarding Judah..
My stradegy would have been the exact opposite for Zab, more of A Floyd/Spinks kind of style. I even know that toe-to-toe with Cotto (hey that rhymes), is a no go. ;D(sorry had to)
I would have had him constantly circling with the jab and try to make Cotto pay to get inside...sometimes your plans fly out the window when the fight starts tho....
Re: Let us consider this ..Regarding Judah..
I didn't see the fight but I've never thought that highly of Yoel.
Has Zab gotten better over the years, it doesn't really seem like it. Apparently his chin's not as bad as most people thought, and he's got some heart, but he still makes the same mistakes. He's very athletically talented but he's not the most skilled guy, with his reflexes and speed he should be much much harder to hit than he is. He still does the same things like pulling back with his hands down, he's never really learned how to fight on the inside, he's too easy to hit with the right hand in general. I don't know, maybe he looked a little better in some of those areas against Cotto, I can't really say.
Re: Let us consider this ..Regarding Judah..
Yoel kept telling zab to throw more combos "1, 2, 3!" but i think he should have been telling him what Stewart kept sayin... use that straight left, counter with it and make cotto weary about coming in! Zab stopped using his left...i think he was afraid to commit with anything other then his right jab after he tasted cotto's power.
You could really tell zab was afraid to throw for the most part...personally I would rather get KTFO in 4 at least giving myself a shot then taking a prolonged 11 round beating.
I feel bad for Yoel. He was Briggs cornerman against Ibragimov, too. It seems like he always has to beg his fighters to throw punches. Neither Zab or Shannon listened. It was funny in the Ibragimov-Briggs fight the announcers were joking that Yoel was throwing more punches in the corner then briggs was in the fight. Which was true.
