Cotto still can't beat Mayweather.
I'm sorry, but Baldomir also looked against Zab, and he couldn't win around against PBF. I think PBF wins for all the reasons Zab loses against these guys. He is way better off the ropes, he doesn't get sloppy defensively, and he maintains his sharpness. I saw Cotto had a lot of trouble with Zab's speed at times, but Zab couldn't maintain a consistant pace offensively. ALso this fight IMO proved that COtto isn't a huge one punch guy who could knock Mayweather. I see Oscar beating Cotto, and I still see Mayweather handing it to Cotto.
Re: Cotto still can't beat Mayweather.
Didnt you say Judah would beat Cotto? I see why you don't enter prediction contests or anything :D ;) ;) And Oscar would get wrecked by Cotto at this stage in their careers. Although I agree,if you're trying to say PBF would be favourite ,because. Although you don't need 1 punch power to beat Floyd. Going by the Osar fight, jba, body work and high activity would make the fight close, and Cotto has the 3 things in abundance at 147.

No one thought Castillo would either yet he gave Mayweather two very hard fights and Cotto hits harder than Castillo and is better fighter.
Re: Cotto still can't beat Mayweather.
I agree. I thought Judah would beat Cotto...but hindsight being 20/20 and all..I expected Judah to let his hands go which he only did 3 times the whole fight.
People point to Zab's speed and power. They say Zab is faster and more powerful then floyd..
Well, Floyd puts his punches together, DOESN'T get shaken mentally, and has the speed/timing to create big problems for Cotto. Like you said constant offensive output...something cotto did not have to worry about with Judah.
Cotto is great b/c he breaks down his opponents. But he has to dictate the pace in order to do so. Mayweather would never let Cotto get into a rhythm. Mayweather would let his hands go the whole 12 rounds it would take him to win UD.
I like Cotto..it will be interesting to see how he does against Margarito/Williams...guys who have abnormal size and punch output.
Cotto is the center of the boxing world right now. There are so many great fights that can be made which revolve around him. A lot of very challenging fights are ahead of him.

That is true but castillo plowed ahead and did not give mayweather any breathing room. Cotto is a little more methodical in his ring stalking...floyd is good at slipping out of small gaps..i dont see how anyone could smother him as much as castillo did. But good point.

No, I didn't, I gave Cotto the odds. I said that Zab had a chance. Oscar would not get wrecked by Cotto. He is faster, more skilled, and hits harder.

He is not a better fighter. Castillo was a better inside fighter, better chin, and he used a lot more head movement. People have being using Castillo for why Oscar and Baldomir would beat Mayweather, and neither came close IMO. Oscar gave him a good fight, but Oscar is better than Cotto. I respect Cotto a lot more after this fight, and he proved he is good, but I think all this stuff about Mayweather ducking him, Margarito, etc. is premature.

Well i didn't use those Reasons Baldo was slow and light hitter and Oscar isn't the kind of inside fighter to give Mayweather those problems he is more of an outside fighter im not saying Cotto would win he would probably lose but im just saying Cottos body shots are damaging blows and if he can get close to Mayweather like Castillo did im not sure if Mayweather can take them body shots.
Re: Cotto still can't beat Mayweather.
Cotto is very good but against Mayweather he would be shown up in all areas.
This would be a UD for Floyd, Cotto would have to land several big shots to have a chance and
I don't see him landing any on PBF.
Re: Cotto still can't beat Mayweather.
To beat De La Hoya, all you need to do at this stage in his career is block the left hook. When he was younger,he was an always improving tremendous fighter whos' right hand was improving, excellent jab, footwork etc. He seems to have lost alot of that now so thats why I believe Cotto would be too much for him. And Cotto would hurt him to the body. Lil Floyd made his kneed buckle twice,Cotto hits harder. However,if Cotto did get hit by a left hook,it could be lights out although I'd like to think he would not be that careless.
(my bad,I thought yuo chose Judah, must have been FrozenSOlid,you2 have the same opinion on nearly everthing!!))
Also, styles make fights,Oscar is a better fighter than JLC but JLC gave Floyd a much tougher fight because like I said,Oscar is not a pressure fighter and it showed. Cotto uses intense pressure.(and you're just making excuses because you and I both know Floyd would never fight Cotto ;D ;))

I've said it before... but I don't see how the Castillo fights hold much relevance anymore. That was 5 loooooong years ago. Floyd is a much different (and better) fighter than he was then.
Cotto could give Floyd a very tough fight, but it would have nothing to do with Jose Luis Castillo.
Re: Cotto still can't beat Mayweather.
Floyd found out what he did wrong with Castillo and has never done it since....stand and fight, he's been pot shotting and running ever since

Another inaccurate statement.
Re: Cotto still can't beat Mayweather.
With Cotto's power, bodypunching and heart I can see him beating Floyd.
Re: Cotto still can't beat Mayweather.
Cotto is a decent fighter but he can't beat floyd 4 a few reasons:
1- He is too slow hand and footwise.
2-His defense is lacking. judah hit him whenever he threw. the only problem was he didn't throw enough.
floyd is too fast and boxes too well 4 cotto . I can see floyd potshotting him into frustration and maybe stoppin him late.
