Jamie Moore's dream of a world title has moved closer with the news that his next fight will be for the WBC International title.

The Salford light-middleweight will meet South African champion Vincent Vuma in July with the stepping-stone title on the line.

Moore is ranked 10 by the WBC and knows that victory at Robin Park Centre in Wigan will leave him on the verge of fighting for the full-blown WBC title at 154lbs, currently held by Floyd Mayweather, and formerly belonging to the likes of Oscar de la Hoya, Shane Mosley, Winky Wright and Thomas Hearns.

And having set his stall out to fight for a world title before the end of 2007, the 28-year-old couldn't be happier.

"It has been my dream since the first time I put on a pair of boxing gloves to do as Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler have done and wear the green belt around my waist," he told frankmaloney.com.

"I have shown that I can fight with the best and I am going to the trenches again with Vuma as I want to knock him out and claim the WBC International belt.

"After that I want to fight for a European belt and then go for a world title."

Vuma,31, will come to England boasting a 24-22(13)-2 record, having reigned as South African champion for almost two years.

But his CV is hardly littered with top names and in eight years as a pro, this will only be his second fight outside his homeland.

His only other foray abroad ended in a points defeat to Reda Zam Zam in Denmark two years ago.
