Bringing A Heavyweight Title Back To The USA
Evander Holyfield, Eddie Chambers, John Ruiz, Chris Byrd, Hasim Rahman, Tony Thompson and maybe Oliver McCall are the only boxers imo that can bring a heavyweight title back to the US imo. I say only because while this may be a long list of fighters 5 out of 7 of them are far past their primes. This means that it could be at least 2 or 3 years before there is a true American Heavyweight Champion. As much as I hate to say it, and I'm probably going to be disagreed with, but Holyfield, Chambers, and Ruiz are the only ones who imo can really do it. Holyfield could very well be the first to reclaim because he will likely be the first to get a shot unless Chambers sets himself up with a title fight by getting a big win in his next fight. Ruiz has a shot because he is Ruiz and he is hard to beat and still in the picture. Rahman wont regain it imo and Byrd will have a really hard time as well. Thompson has a chance to really get in the picture but it wont be for a while. It isn't really important to me as to what country the titleholder comes from but I think it is interesting this this may end up being the longest time we've gone without a heavyweight champion maybe ever.

The United States heavyweights now are a terrible bunch compared to the past.
Re: Bringing A Heavyweight Title Back To The USA
Yeah Ali-Ruiz would have been one for the history books. They are a joke...most of them.
Re: Bringing A Heavyweight Title Back To The USA
So you are saying the American heavyweight that's under 30 years old is Eddie Chambers?
Man we Americans are screwed in the upcoming years as far as Heavyweights go.

That is why when I heard Jones was going to fight Ruiz I thought, ok Jones will become the first middleweight to win a heavyweight title. But I still think beating Ruiz makes that claim much much much less than had he beat a Tyson or Holyfield obviously. Toney and Jones both took on Ruiz since they knew he was the lighter puncher of all the champs they could fight and not aggresive. Worked well for them. Toney could have beaten Ruiz without the steroids. Hopkins could have moved up and beat Ruiz. Most top guys like Hopkins or Toney or Jones could.

You missed off Ray Austin & Shannon Briggs, haha! Hell if you think Rahman has a chance, then surely these boys do!

CC!Tony Thompson has the best chance and then E.Holyfield,Byrd and Chambers...... Thanks for not mentioning Fat ass Toney!
Re: Bringing A Heavyweight Title Back To The USA
Chazz Witherspoon hasn't been mentioned and he's good. In the short term maybe not, but Aaron Williams is a very good cruiserweight prospect whom I think is going to make a big splash in the heavyweight division.

Ali could still beat Ruiz at this point in his life.
