Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch

Wow, heres the bit that seems most shocking:
"Measuring the forces applied in football studies, the team also worked out that Hatton's average punching force is more than twice the kicking force of a Premier League footballer."
I dont envy Castillo too much right now.
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
Hatton just said on Orange playlist his punch force is 1 and a half tonnes and 32MPH

Really that shocked you?
Heres what really shocked me.
"Researchers initially thought Hatton was packing a right-hand with 1,500kg (3,307lb) of force behind it. "
"But a re-analysis of the data found the figure was about 400kg (882lb) - still 10 times that of an average person."
These researchers must be some of the stupidest researchers around cause look how off they were.
Thats like telling a construction worker "How long does that nail look?" and he answers with "12 feet long".....
How the fwock can these "researchers" be so off I mean they missed by a little over 1,000 kgs. :D
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
1000kg is nothing... well, to me and Baller27 it isn't! :P
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
the reason why the researchers thought he punched with 1000 kg plus force is cos he broke the machine with his punch. and they must have thought that he hit the bag with a punch that the machine could no handle- the limit.
which may have been 1000kg plus.
400 kg is still frightening. this guy is only a light welterweight, a good puncher, not even a 1 punch kayo artist...well he is rarely. the message to the average bloke on the street is, 'u dont wanna get hit by any decent pro boxer!'
the bit that shocked me was the bit about where it said his punch is twice as hard as a premiership football player. now if u wanna imagine how hard this guy hits, then picture this. u gettin kickd in the head by wayne rooney, TIMES 2!
this will obviously give hatton alot of confidence ahead of his title fight against jose luis catillo.
i mean if a light welterweight could hit so hard, then i wouldnt mind knowing how hard a decent heavyweight hit. the average guy would get killed no question!
imagine foreman hitttin one of those machines.
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
Sorry but I just don't buy this at all really.
First off I don't see how there is any way he can punch twice as hard as a football player can kick.
I mean somebody like David Beckham can smack a ball virtually the entire length of a football pitch and I just can't see one of Ricky's punches having that kind of power. ???
And does he punch twice as hard as ALL footballers or just the average strength ones?
Secondly 10 times more than the average person? What does this even mean? ???
10 times more than the average based on all the men, women and children who live in the UK?
Or 10 times more than the average adult male in the UK, not including the disabled and gays?
Or 10 times more than the average adult male weighing 140 lbs exactly?
And where do they get their scores in the first place? How do they know how hard all of these people punch, have they done mass testings on the UK population? I wasn't asked to participate, were any of you? ???
As you can see each of the above rule would give a completely different set of averages so the 10 times stronger statement just means nothing at all, like most of modern day trivial scientific research to be honest ^-^
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
yea id really love to know the punching power of heavyweights compared to welters
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
I have visions of Brigitte Nielsen and the other Russians off rocky 4 watching Ricky punching that machine drago was punching measuring the force in amazement
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
I remember Eubank saying he punched with either 3 or 4 tonnes of pressure
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
Who gives a crap....I swear there is more meaningless research going on than research that can actually benefit humanity. Research cancer and find a damn cure you f'in twats.....who is paying for this research?Im getting sick to my stomach thinking someone is gettin paid to do this research...what did we learn a professional boxer hit hard, no shit Sherlock!
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
Good point no contest. And no surprise Eubank would say something like that. Maybe some research funds could be directed into programs to help top level pro boxers manage their finances, prepare for life after boxing and keep their lives on track like they do in many other professional sports.
Re: Hatton packs 'half tonne' punch
Then Cotto must be punching with over 3 tons pressure cause IMO he hits a hell of a lot harder than Hatton

A cure for cancer is overrated. Cancer showed up after we cured other diseases we used to suffer from besides if i'm gonna die i want my body to do it to itself instead of being taken out by something i can't even see.

I am not too impressed with stuff like that. If you measure most boxer's punches and they have time to hit a non moving target, I am sure it will have alot of force. Castillo wouldn't be too far behind Hatton. Hatton is going to win on Sat. because of skill not power.
