How is it that some people still don't believe in Ricky Hatton?
Now I'm not talking to everyone on this board, because to be fair, many are giving credit were credit is due. But there are too many haters for my liking here. C'mon guys, the guy is going out and looking for the big fights...and he just made a great fighter look very ordinary. I didn't see too many hating on Cotto after what he did to Judah last week. IMO, Floyd needs to fight both of these guys, because they're knocking out guys he couldn't. I'm wondering if Floyd could really take the punishment both of them can dish out.
Bottom line, Ricky deserves his plaudits, and if you weren't impressed by what happened on Saturday night then you should certainly be questioning your knowledge of boxing.

Im not really a Hatton fan but full credit for the 4th round stoppage of Castillo but i still dont like all the holding and grappling theirs no need for it he holds and he is'nt even hurt its frustrating to watch but until the refs start to pick up on it best of luck to him but great great result.

I know everyone has their tastes, but seriously...whats not to like about Ricky Hatton? I sooner have 100 Ricky Hatton's flying the British flag than one Junior Witter. I hope to god Harris does the business against him.
Re: How is it that some people still don't believe in Ricky Hatton?
I think on saturday night there were both leaning on eachother rather than holding. They got tangled up a lot because they were both trying to push eachother back. Against Urango he held basically because he was poorly. He didn't hold for the 1st 5 or 6 rounds but he ran out of energy and basically had to get through the fight. I think on Saturday Castillo and Hatton were both as bad as eachother.
Re: How is it that some people still don't believe in Ricky Hatton?
Well it depends what you mean by "not believing" in Ricky Hatton.....
For example, I believe Hatton looked very impressive on saturday night, and I believe he's without a doubt the #1 guy in the world at 140.
However, I don't believe he can beat any of the top 5 welterweights in the world.

The holding on Saturday was just as much Castillo and Hatton was the one who fought out of clinches with wicked combinations. Witter couldn't handle that and you know it. You have got to hope this fight doesn't come off because if it does, your house is mine! ;D

Honestly...I think he'd beat Margarito. I don't rate him tbh. It's all the Tony fans that have built this guy, and until he beats someone of note, I'm not gunna give him credit. I think Ricky can outbox him.
I've never seen Williams fight, so I can't really comment.
Cotto would be a great fight, and it's a pick em, but i'd go with Cotto because I think he's one of the best in the sport.
I don't think Mosley has the desire anymore as he said recently he wants one more before retirement, so I think Hatton can win that one.
He has every chance against Floyd. If he traps him, he beats him, but Floyd is hard to pin down.
I'm a big Hatton fan though, so I know my opinions on this one are slightly bias.

I hope your kidding me. If you think CAStillo was anything compared to the guy who fought Mayweather 4-5 years ago your fooling yourself. The reason why people aren't "hating" on Cotto is because he didn't have those two horrid performances against Urango and Collazo. I think Hatton could beat anyone at 147 besides PBF, or he has the potential to, but I doubt he will be able to. He has the speed, but he doesn't fight the right way.
Re: How is it that some people still don't believe in Ricky Hatton?
Urango he was ill with flu
Collazo he had 5 weeks preparation to go up a weight and fight a beltholder at first attempt
If you dont believe look at how different he was against Castillo
Re: How is it that some people still don't believe in Ricky Hatton?
He did look good, but he also looked good at the begining of his fight against Collazo and against Urango. Hatton has always gotten to a quick start my question is whether or not he can still sustain it against larger fighters.
Re: How is it that some people still don't believe in Ricky Hatton?
If you want to see it sustained then look at the Tszyu fight
However against bigger fighters there is no real evidence yes or no (Collazo being only 5 weeks preparation to fight a beltholder at a higher weight with no tune up fight)
Regarding Welterweight we all have that question - and noone knows !

I'm a big Cotto fan, but he was nothing against Urkal, rocked big time by Torres and had problems with Corley. Judah is hardly at his best right now...these are pretty much the same reasons people hate on Hatton.
Don't get me wrong, I love Cotto. My opinion is that every fighter is entitled to have a bad day at the office.

I think of all the Welterweights, Margarito poses the BIGGEST threat to Hatton. He's a very strong puncher and throws shots at odd angles, Collazo was finding hatton with a lead right hook, a similar punch to what Margarito would throw because he stands very square. If Hatton v Cotto ever did come off i wouldn't be surprised if we saw Cotto going southpaw to land the lead right hook too, cos it is a definite weakness of Hatton's.
