i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
so he lost and he finally took a shot that he couldn't handle.
i'm still on his bandwagon and always will be.
i would like to see a rematch between these two because castillo is a skilled fighter who is known to have slow starts in his matches. he gets better further into the rounds.
who knows what could have been had hatton not landed such a nice body shot?
i won't take away from hatton because that was a good performance.
props to hatton but i still despise his style with a passion.
come on get up Castillo, i know you still got it.

Well Castillo was not going to come on strong with a fighter as determined and fast as Hatton. Fact is that I was talking to my friend on the phone during the fight and I told him during round 4 before the knockout that Castillo seems to be hurting everytime Hatton hits him. I could see him whincing with the bodyshots. The fact that one knocked him out was not a fluke. Hatton was working the liver. Hatton was just spectacular on Sat. That might be the performance of his career like it was Curry's performance with McCrory.
Re: i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
I'm still a fan of Castillo also. I was hoping that he would catch Hatton that night with a big punch and win by KO.
But he was too damn slow, and his shots were predictable.
Re: i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
Yeah I dont know if you can say Castillo is shot...lost a step yes...but shot...no. It wasnt like he was getting completely dominated, it was almost as if he was getting a little better as it went on. He definately was having problems inside getting tied up alot. The liver shot was set up good because Hatton did a quick almost ghost punch in his face so he couldnt see the liver shot coming right after. His elbows just happened to be wide enough and Hatton took advantage nicely. When I saw him go down kind of delayed I knew he wasnt getting up. I will have to see him lose to someone of lesser quality than Hatton to question if hes done.
Re: i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
I will remain a fan of Castillo he has given me many of excititng nights in front of the TV and many a great fight.....I just hope he gets his financial's in order and things go well for him in the future
Re: i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
....Jose Luis Castillo can still fight....probably not with the very top tier but he can still make money.
JLC vs Witter, Holt, Harris, Hopkins....there is money out there for him, I hope he can rebound but right now it's doubtful
Re: i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
I was so proud of Ricky but my heart went out to Castillo as he has been a favorite of mine for so long now. I hated to see him down like that because he's a gamer for sure. But I think if he got up he would have got hurt more. I would love to see another fight between the 2 also, as I think Castillo would approach it much differently. He does tend to start slow, and it caught up quick with him. But I hardly think he's finished and if they could fight again and make it up to the upper rounds I would think Castillo would have an edge. Like the one poster said above, he was getting loosened up and getting some shots in, but too little too late. Still one of the greatest lightweights ever in my opinion.

CC no contest. I agree. The fact that Castillo was getting a little better with his left hook almost seemed to make Hatton pour it on and he opened up more. Castillo was more conscious of landing his left hook that he neglected his defense a little and was hit with those left hooks in round 4. I was not expecting a liver shot to be what took him out.
Re: i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
Hatton is and always will be my favourite Boxer but I did feel a bit sorry for Castillo. I hope he can bounce back from this defeat and put his career back on track. Ive always enjoyed watching Castillos fights and the Hatton fight is the only fight I have not been behind him on.
Re: i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
It's good to see loyalty even though your favourite fighter lost.
Re: i'm still a Castillo fan and always will be
I'm still a fan. I still rate him #2 at light-welter to be honest. I think Malignaggi & Torres have something to offer though.
