Re: Peter vs Maskaev Might Not Happen!
That's great news for Maskaev. Sam would have had him with a side salad and a diet Dr Pepper.
Re: Peter vs Maskaev Might Not Happen!
This has been up in the air for some time. If it didn't happen, it benefits Maskaev. He knows he's getting knocked out by Peter, and it'll pretty much end his career. I have no desire to see Peter vs. Vitali either. Again, I think Peter takes him apart. Wlad vs. Peter is the best Heavyweight fight out there.
Maskaev also would prefer to fight Vitali, because it means much more money for him.
Re: Peter vs Maskaev Might Not Happen!
your right about 1 thing.
Maskaev vs Vitali would = much more money.
However peter is very overrated. What has he done? knocked out jeremy williams LMAO and beat a inflated SMW.
He scored 3 knockdowns against wlad (thanks to Rabbit punches) and still gets beat 114-111. Cmon, enough hypen him up already.
Re: Peter vs Maskaev Might Not Happen!
But Peter has improved no end since then. When he first fought Wladimir Klitschko he was a plodding puncher with power to burn but since then he has became a talented boxer with power to burn. I'm not calling James Toney a top-level fighter anymore but he is still a threat for almost all of today's heavyweights and Peter beat him twice. The second time he was a revelation. HE used his left jab excellently and even dropped Toney with it. Peter is tough and can take a blow. He looked faster and fitter against Toney. He dropped today's best heavyweight (WLAD) three times.
Surely Peter's proven power, young age (23), his potenial, the tendency to improve rapidly which he has displayed andthe pschological edge of knowing he has dropped the division's number one 3 times wil add up and allow Peter to seize the top spoy at 200+ lbs. I hope Peter-Maskeav does happen because Oleg will be the biggest scalp on 'The Nigerian Nightmare's' resume and will propel him closer to the top of the division.

I agree with much of your post. But Peter really is not as young 23.

First off, one performance tells you that he is ready for another go at the champ? well then.. there's alot of heavies out there that should be knocking on wlads door because of A good performance. Personally he has beatin no one worth mentioning.
Second, please don't mention peter's knockdowns against wlad as an acomplishment, you should inturn mention them as a fault. Rabbit punches, to a good ref would of either deducted a point on the second knockdown, or a DQ. I Will not debate wether or not they were rabbit punches. If you Ever watch the fight you will come to the same conclusion. Samuel peter has beatin No one that would make me ( and should make most) think of him as anything different as an average up and commer with a hard punch. He got demolished against wlad so bad, that the 3 farce knockdowns of samuel peter did nothing to make the fight even close. I honestly believe that a match with either of the klitschkos would prove devastating for samuel peters career.
He has potential, but IMO he is years away from being a dominant force in the HWD.
one line sums up samuel peter.
A GREAT PUNCH, IF HE LANDS IT.
Re: Peter vs Maskaev Might Not Happen!
If Maskaev does not sign to fight Peter don't anyone be suprised if he is stripped of the title.....Vitaly Vs Peter for the vacant title would be more lucritive for all involved
Re: Peter vs Maskaev Might Not Happen!
sure.
It would get rid of the middle man(oleg), to a fight that will happen anyways.
Re: Peter vs Maskaev Might Not Happen!
...maskaev isn't going anywhere near that contract. Peter being overrated or not maskaev deep down inside probably wants nothing to do with peter

Yeah because vitali is a walkthrough ::**. Maskaev knows he's gonna get slaughtered against either and he figures he might as well make more money in the process.

Yes I here he lies about his age. I bet he is more like 33 ,I really dont think it matters much for heavys. Evander has not looked as good as he has in his last 2 fights in a long time and he is 44.
Re: Peter vs Maskaev Might Not Happen!
I couldn't care less that this was cancelled, anyone particulary interested in the first place ?
