Skelton World Title Hopes In Ruins
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/default.stm
Frank Warren was reported saying that after Saturdays boring dispaly he can't get Skelton a title shot as nobody is interested.
Sounds like an excuse and get out clause from Warren who probably could never have delivered on the promise anyhow.
After having watched every heavyweight title fight of the last couple years I'd say being fat, dull and boring was hardly a disqualification for a shot, more like a prerequisite. Warren is just trying to find a way out because he has no political clout on the world stage.
In the word's of Alan Sugar,he's a 'lightweight' >:mad

I agree,
Frank should still deliver what he said he would,
It really annoys me that he said someone would get a world title shot back before Williams vs Skelton and he has just sent them all on this merry go round of shit domestic fights , each time promising the winner a world title shot.
A boring fight shouldn't cancel out a title shot, a win is a win.
Re: Skelton World Title Hopes In Ruins
Skelton has already turned down his "world" title shot. He was offered the Maskaev fight last year but decided against it cause of the dough involved and the chance to fight Audley instead
He's obviously not stupid.
Re: Skelton World Title Hopes In Ruins
Well if he were to deliver a world title shot, the only available one for the end of the year is Wlad, and that would be a massacre.
Ibragimov & Chagaev are unifying come the years end, and 25 people are lined up for the WBC super interim world champion emiritus belt, so there is no shot available. Best they can hope for is an interim WBO shot me thinks.
Re: Skelton World Title Hopes In Ruins
why have they tried to turn Skelton in to a boxer? He was best when he was just marauding forward winging punches like a man bear full on for 3 minutes.

I don't think he tried to box on Saturday night. In fact, it kinda looked to me like he was trying to eat Michael Sprott.
Re: Skelton World Title Hopes In Ruins
Yeah the British heavyweights are a discrage on the others like Hatton,Calzaghe etc
