Re: Tips for a busted nose?
Ususally if swelling is there then the first 24-48 hours u should/could ice it. After that, then do nothing. The nose is gonna heal at it's own pace. I have never put heat on my nose. And don't blow ur nose!
If it's broke & swollen, it will take a lil while to start feelin right. If it's bruised & swollen u will be ready to roll soon enough. There's no set time on the healing process. I would suggest to take a few days off from sparring to give it a "break". << not meant to be a corny a** joke. Good luck.
Re: Tips for a busted nose?
I was taught to gently snort up a little water and sort of wash my nose out to clear it and get rid of dried blood etc without needing to blow. Works well for me and I have a big nose. :)
Re: Tips for a busted nose?
dont touch it, dont wiggle it around, dont blow out of it...just let nature take its course and if it hurts without any contact, take a painkiller but dont depend much on them cus your nose will get fucked up a lot in this business

We used to use salt water. We had some old school trainers that were proven, tried, & tough. But it's not something that I would advise, especially to anyone that is fairly new to boxing.
Re: Tips for a busted nose?
Thanks everyone. I went and saw the Doctor today becus my nose is still swollen a little, bruised and stuffy as hell. He said it wasn't broken, and to ice it within the first 24 hours then take Sudafed to clear the congestion. I haven't sparred in two days, but I'll be sparrin again tomorrow morning so theres a good chance I'll be goin through all this BS again. No biggy though, its worth it to learn how to box and become an amatuer fighter.
Re: Tips for a busted nose?
Hey man, iv pretty much demolished my nose 4 times and i got a couple things that always help me:
1. When the injury is fresh, kneel in a hot bath (not too hot!! but steamy.) Place face in water and blow air through the nose as a swimmer would. Repeat a number of times. Will help remove some blood and clear congestion.
2. With a break or deviated septum use a basin of boiling water and add 6-7 drops of olbas oil. Throw a towel over ur head and lean over the basin creating a kinda steam room effect. Breathe in through nose and exhale through mouth. Clears air ways n helps a lot. I do that every mornin n before fights to give me a lil boost.
3. If ur nose's septum is deviated as mine is well then, ur screwd :) The kinda snort up technique is what i use with a lukewarm water/baking soda solution. Unpleasent. But it does open blood vessels in the nose and aids the repair of the nose.
