VERY Interesting article/news on Oscar,Hatton And Malignaggi
Oscar De la hoya has approached Team Hatton about the possibility of a fight between the pair later this year. De la hoya has also looked into making the fight in London at Wembley stadium. Oscar see's it as a huge fight and the possibility of fighting in the Uk gets him excited. He also put an offer to Hatton to join his stable at Golden boy Promotions.
De La Hoya, a world champion at six weights, confirmed he plans to fight on at 34 and that Hatton is in his sights as he also seeks to tie up a promotional deal with Britain’s light-welterweight world No 1. “There is Hatton. I can still make the 147lb limit,” said De La Hoya. “We have to wait and see. Mayweather runs and does'nt want to fight so you have to at this point consider opponents who are going to stay right in front of you and fight with you. That’s actually what I need.”
Hatton would have to step up a division to take on the all-time great, who most recently fought at light-middleweight when he was defeated by Floyd Mayweather junior in Las Vegas in May.
It caused problems for Hatton when he increased his weight to defeat Luiz Collazo at welterwerweight last year, but he insists a gradual programme of raising his fighting limit would make him comfortable. Hatton said 'No doubt if a big fight or fights require me to go to welter-weight again that's what i'll do. 140 is my perfect fighting weight i think everyone realises that, i'm kinda small for welter-weight but i believe in myself and everyone out there can be assured i will fight at welter again but as i said only for the mega fights'.
Hatton said Floyd Mayweather is his prime target but HBO sources indicate that team Mayweather has told them he is unlikely to fight again this year even though the US broadcast giant has a date set aside for him on November 10.
De La Hoya is eager to sign Hatton to his US promotional stable after the victory last month over Jose Luis Castillo catapulted the 28-year-old Manchester idol among the most popular TV fighters in America.
Another serious possibility for Hatton’s next opponent is the New York-based IBF light-welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi and Hatton's team has already been in talks with them. Sources close to hatton admitted that a deal with Paul Malignaggi was more or less agreed the following day after hattons impressive demolition of mexican legend Castillo.
The stumbbling block is that Hatton's team want his next fight in the UK before hatton goes back to america after HBO apparently offered Ricky another three fight deal with one being in the UK and two in America but Malignaggi has rejected the offer to fight Hatton in the uk saying 'There's no way i'll fight him in his backyard. It will be like wwe over there, He'll be able to do what he wants and it would'nt surprise me if chairs were allowed too. I want him at MSG in New York'.
After a counter offer by team Hatton apparently a career biggest offer to Malignaggi, Malignaggi rejected it again leaving Hatton to either pursue other offer's or go to america and accept as part of his 3 fight deal on the table from HBO.
Re: VERY Interesting article/news on Oscar,Hatton And Malignaggi
I wouldnt fight Oscar it could be very ugly for Hatton imo, meaning he could be knocked out within 6 rounds, if he cant get Mayweather, he shoudl fight Witter back home take the WBC Strap( if he beats Harris) then move on.
I loved Malinaggi comments " it wouldnt suprise me if chairs were allowed" hahaha.

Oscar would batter Hatton, credit to Ricky if he takes that fight

I agree, too strong!
However I wouldn't give him credit just yet for taking the fight I would like Floyd to fight him first. If Oscar batters Ricky it won't look as good when Floyd beats him.
Re: VERY Interesting article/news on Oscar,Hatton And Malignaggi
Not at all.. I think oscar would damage himself in making 147 and he wouldnt be the same fighter..
He is not prime in the first place..But making 147 would be a mistake against a ricky hatton who is given the right ammount of time to fill out and make 147 nicely
Re: VERY Interesting article/news on Oscar,Hatton And Malignaggi
I lose respect for Ricky if he takes this pointless De La Hoya fight.

Lol.. Thats crazy talk..
Tell me this? Guy walks up to you and says Yo Nium.. I'll pay you some crazy money like 15 mil to fight a guy you think you have a good chance of beating..
You gona take it? ..Fucking right your gona take it..
Re: VERY Interesting article/news on Oscar,Hatton And Malignaggi
I understand Ricky having a chance against Oscar...a high energy pressure fighter, ODH not having the gas tank to give 100% for 12 rounds....But I think we can all agree that for 7-9 rounds Oscar can still put on a hell of a fight, would be the best fighter ricky has faced (depends on how good you think KT was when they fought) and still brings a pretty good punch at WW. If Oscar stayed on his toes, pumped that jab and used his right hand I think he could win a UD....I do admit there is a definate possibility of Oscar fading from Ricky's pressure and losing, but I'd put my money on ODH pulling out a SD

Damn straight!! I would gain alot of respect should Ricky fight Oscar, especially in UK. It would be huge and Oscar knows it. It would be a tough fight for Rick, but like Bilbo said, credit to Ricky for doing it. Of course if Oscar should get put out from a body shot, which is the only way Rick will win that fight IMO, then everyone will say Oscar is an old man. It needs to happen soon as I love both fighters and I would much anticipate it.

Im the biggest Hatton fan around, but i think Dela Hoya is to powerful for him, i dont think it will be Mayorga style beating but i would not take this fight, but i suppose if hes getting 15 million or there abouts it might be worth it, but this could damage his reputation badly, if things go very bad and i think there is a possibility they could, id take Maywearher Cotto before this fight.
I think Dela Hoya thinks he can go out with a bang against a young p4p unbeaton fighter who he feels he will look good against, i think Oscar is being clever here, he knows Hatton is much the smaller man, and feels he can generate alot on intrest while also looking a million dollers.
Re: VERY Interesting article/news on Oscar,Hatton And Malignaggi
If Hatton's next fight is going to be in the UK maybe he should take on Witter. Especially if Witter beats Harris. I guess it would depend on how much time Witter needs to recover after fighting Harris.

Niether witter or harris are good fights for ricky..Hes too big for them right now and those fights are gone
Re: VERY Interesting article/news on Oscar,Hatton And Malignaggi
One reason I would lose some respect for Ricky if he takes the De La Hoya fight is the fact that he's been calling out Floyd for some time now. He need to get that fight done. If not I think fighting Paulie would be entertaining

I think its fair to say both floyd and oscar are the final step up for Ricky..
But Floyd is hard to work with so you couldnt begrudge him to take this if the floyd fight does not happen just yet
