lifting in conjunction with roadwork AND training
Hi all,
In the offseason, does anyone have any reccomendations how to balance the roadwork, sport specific weight training sessions and training time? Would one morning be lift and train and the next roadwork and train, or roadwork then lift later and no training that day? I'm trying to figure out How to mix this up and balance it and still get optimal results. Thank you.

I'd be interested in answers to this Q too.
I do some of each every weekday usually but when time limited the weight training is cut down. I guess that means I have a tendency to favour my aerobic conditioning and hope that I can maintain sport specific muscle with a less intense weights program because I'm using those muscles in boxing training.
To be honest though I don't know if I'm right in doing that though. More and more I'm finding I need to strengthen just about everything for injury prevention reasons. I just really enjoy the cardio.
So yeah good Q - I'll be interested in the answers too ........
Re: lifting in conjunction with roadwork AND training
Well my training is more geared towards MMA, but since I'm in the Army I run almost every monring along with abs and pushups....Most afternoons we workout as well...I do 30-45 min of weights (almost all cables) then I do three rounds (3 min) on the heavy bag and lastly I do mat work for another 30+ minutes...As someone who gains muscle mass just walking into a gym this system has helped maintain good core strength and punching power but not bulk up like I used to from lifting.
