Oldest of All Texas Boxing Jokes

A young boxer was in his first fight at the arena in Fort Worth. It was soon apparent that the boy was no match for the other more experienced fighter. When the battered boxer reeled into his corner at the end of the first round, his trainer tried to keep up the fighter's confidence. "You're doing great; he ain't laid a hand on you," he said. The next round was even worse than the first, but the boy was game and lasted it out. As he returned to his corner, his trainer assured him, "You're beating him bad; he still ain't laid a glove on you."

The process continued through several rounds, each time the trainer assuring the boxer he was doing well. Finally, after the seventh round the bruised and bleeding young man barely managed to stagger back to his corner. When the trainer assured him the other guy still hadn't laid a hand on him, the young man looked up through his only eye that was still open and pleaded, "Then you better keep your eye on the referee this next round cause somebody is beatin' the hell out a me!"

Funny thing is, there are actually trainers like that out there.
