Re: Michael Watson what if?
They would have fought again and Eubank would have beaten him down.
Re: Michael Watson what if?
You really think so? Watson was beating the cr** out of Eubank that night, what makes you think the rematch would have been any different?
Re: Michael Watson what if?
Watson had one good fight and his career and it ended in brain damage. I respect him but have never rated Watson.

Fair enough, but he beat Benn as well remember. Personally i thought he managed to get his act together and may have been a force to reckon with in the SMD.
Re: Michael Watson what if?
I just couldn't see him beating Mclellan, Benn (again), Eubank, Roy Jones, Joe Calzaghe or Sven Ottke.

I guess we shall never know. Here have my first ever cool click :coolclick:

If the ref had given watson an 8 count he would have recovered and won.

How do you work that one out? he had brain damage, do you even know what you are talking about?

I think he's just taking the piss. The Watson that fought that night wuold have given all the top guys problems, but as Shaw said, it's a big WHAT IF he could maintain that level motivation and sharpness in later fights.

Yes i do! After the first knockdown the ref let watson continue as soon as he got up instead of issusing a standing 8 count in accordance with WBO rules (at the time there was no standing 8 count under the rules of the British Boxing Board of Control) If watson had been issued correctly with a count Eubank wouldnt have scored the second and more damaging knockdown and Watson would have been ok and would have held during the last round.
SO YES I DO KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. DO YOU?

Sorry i didn't read what u had said correctly. I am not so sure that a standing 8 count would have helped him that much, it was one hell of an uppercut that Eubank hit him with.
Re: Michael Watson what if?
He looked fucking awesome that night, I know that much.

Benn, Toney and Nunn he'd have fought. If he got past Benn and Toney, he'd have never beaten Nunn.
Actually, Toney at 168 was sublime. That's a hell of a fight, Watson at his best against a (non-weightdrained) 168 Toney
