Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
In reality Hatton is fighting a Light Welterweight, i feel that is the sole reason Hatton is taking this fight at Welterweight, like his camp have said they will train for this fight as if it was a light welterweight contest. I feel as most boxers Hatton probably struggles with the last couple of lbs to make 140, so i hense him coming in at around 143/144.
Now come fight night i have no doubt Ricky will be the heavier man and will be fighting Floyd at around 150 lbs, which is really the norm for all opponents who operate at 140. Other than the fact its officially for the 147 WBC Belt, it is really between two light Welterweights.
Now if Hatton wins or loses i dont see him campaiging at 147, it would just be plain stupid, guys who are fighting at 147 right now are to big for Ricky Cotto/Williams/Clintron etc etc, these guys come in around 160+ on fight night, all Ricky's advantages as a fighter are taken away, people will probably call him a bitch etc for running back down to 140, but why? He is not a big enough man to fight these men, Ricky is a pressure fighter who relies on his physical attributes to win fights.
But people who are saying this fight should be at 140, it doesn't really matter, in reality Floyd fights at 140 when he fights at Welterweight.
Re: Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
I totally agree. Neither fighter should get stick for taking this fight, it's a tough fight for both.
Re: Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
People are judging Hatton by the Collazo fight too much. Because Hattons mob are clearly not thickos they've learned from their mistakes and everthing his Dad has said seems to make perfect sense regarding the weight of both fighters.
Re: Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
Agreeing with Fenster here, the Collazo fight IMO was no reflection of Hatton's capacity as a welter. His motivation will be through the roof for this one, he feels this will be his crowning glory and believes he can beat Mayweather so i feel this may well be Floyd's toughest test.

Re: Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
He's damned for taking the fight at 140 and stupid for taking it at 147...funny how you can't please some people ;)

Steelie clear out your PM's
Re: Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
He respect to both guys here, Hatton called out PBF, who happened to have the WBC 147 lb. title.
So the fight happens at 147. Much respect for both guys for making this happen. I've said it before
and I'll say it again these two will bring out the best in each other.

Oh come on we all know he's only taking this fight because he's ducking Junior Witter.
:D
Re: Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
Pbf has felt the 154 division and handled it rather well.....he will feel so much more comfortable and stronger in this fight, bad news for hatton since we've seen how he's handled his move up so far.

Are you kidding? There are reports that Hatton weighs anywhere between 155-160 coming into his 140 fights there is no way he only puts 3 pounds back on after the weigh-in at 147. Hopefully this time he has enough time to put on the weight properly unlike his Collazo fight where he "found out at the last minute" it was going to be at 147.
Re: Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
I don't think weight is a big issue either. But i do feel like conditioning and stamina are HUGE issues for Hatton. He seems like he balloons up and down way too much between fights and it has shown in his stamina. He clearly will try to be in his best shape for this fight...but Floyd, unlike Ricky, doesn't have to kill himself to be in tremendous shape. And while Floyd might not be A LOT bigger than Hatton...he is now clearly is more comfortable at 147. He will be faster, more skilled, have better stamina....and even have more power. I also think Ricky talking the trash and calling him out...will make him want to really punish Hatton. I say all this not being a fan of Floyd's at all...and i would love to see Hatton pull the upset...but it ain't happening.

You obvioulsy didnt understand my post, he wont come in at 147, he will come in around 142/143, and against Castillo he was the lightesthe has been on fight night in his career at 149 i think it was, but thats my point he wont need to bulk up hes fighting a guy who will be weighing around 150 on fight night, so in truth he is fighting a Light Welterweight not a Welterweight hense why there is no problem fighting Floyd at 147. By the way he has never in his life weighed 160 lbs for a 140lb fight i dont no where you get that from ???

I agree completely, Skel
The weight will have no significant bearing on this fight. If it was against Mosley or DLH then of course I would factor that in. But not with Floyd. I cannot envisage Floyd fighting outside of 147 again to be honest. Even at 147 Floyd has to be at his cagey best with the big guns and Floyd sure isnt gonna have an easy time knocking them out. Hatton will come in at around 150 maximum against Floyds and thats ideal...
Re: Whats all the rubbish about the weight?? I dont get it?
I personally would have loved the fight at a catch weight, but that's just my opinion....
I'm OK with the fight being at Welter and huge props to Hatton for taking it.
