Re: i just cant get stanima
first things first...stamina, not stanima...
second: eating fried chicken is horrible for you, and limiting your diet to that, rice and beans, is pretty brutal too.
third: run faster. jogging aint gonna do the trick for stamina, it'll make your legs stronger, but if you want to be in fighting shape you should be able to run at under 7 minutes a mile for at least 3 miles.

Take deep breathes in and out you gotta learn to breath correctly in a sport and sometimes that can be the problem when i went to running club once i thought i was pretty fit but i was not breathing correctly my trainer told me how to properly and it helped maybe you should try it.
Re: i just cant get stanima
oh and another thing its unhealthy for me to eat anything without fat and grease. i guess i have a super speedy metabolism. i started eating only twice a day with no tortillas and i lost weight fast I'm 140lbs and 5'11 and thats really unhealthy. so I'm going to start eating three times a day and tortillas too and try to get back to the 150's.
Re: i just cant get stanima
Eating 5 or 6 small meals would be even better. Some fruit in there too. Meals don't all need to be big but more often especially earlier in the day would be better.
If you don't eat well and burn calories really fast maybe your glycogen levels are too low for longish workouts. Try sipping on a sports drink in between rounds in training and eating 2 hours before you workout.
Re: i just cant get stanima
dude, hate to say it but grease and fat is very unhealthy regardless of your metabolic rate. the more i read of your posts, the more i think your issues are with your diet more than anything. and if you are 5'11" in the 140s enjoy it.
Re: i just cant get stanima
The secret to stamina is repetition. If you are preparing to fight four rounds, traing, HARD, for four rounds. Not twelve. That is called leaving your fight in the gym. You build up to fighting for twelve rounds and you build up to training for a 12 round fight. Take your time and pace yourself.
Breath...If you punch properly- by turning your body and not by slinging your arms- it is much easier.

5' 11" at light welter could be a dangerous combination with the right skill set ;)
Definately push yourself when doing roadwork, I am learning this myself.
If you can only maintain a good rate of speed for 1/2 mile start there
Run 1/2 a mile and jog 1/2 a mile keep increasing the run portion until you can run the whole mile.
Then run for 1 mile followed directly by jogging for 1 mile.
Work your way up until you can run for 2 miles
etc. etc.
keep doing that until you can run (not jog) for 3 miles.
Also it helps when you see the end of your run sprint it
out, just go for it.
Re: i just cant get stanima
What te hell is STANIMA? Jus jokin, I know what u mean (stamina).
Lookin at a couple of things that were posted it's probably a combination that will take time & effort for u to figure out.
IMO u can start by eating 4-5 small meals a day. Get off the fried stuff. If u know how to fry chicken then u shouldn't have a problem grilling it. Drink alot of water & try to stay away from soda's, high fructose, carbonated drinks, etc... I won't get into a long drawn out diet plan but just try to be smart with ur intake.
Someone already posted about ur roadwork. Start bustin ass when u do ur roadwork.
One thing that is very important but will only come after u gain a little bit of in ring time is being comfortable. Breathing normally, not being tense, etc...
It's a long road that u will have to pay ur dues. This is not an easy sport. So the question is how bad do u want it? Good luck with ur training.
Re: i just cant get stanima
Your proctologist can give you a 'stanima' assuming that's what it's called these days.
Re: i just cant get stanima
No expert but my suggestion woul be to entirely rip apart ur training regime. Never mind jogging, try swimming, If u can get a trainer with a bodybag, who can use it correctly in my opinion there is no harder drill.
To build stamina u need mental strength, Get on a heavy bag, keep goin til, u feel like u need to stop then let ur hands go as hard and fast as u can for thirty seconds or so then slow for a while then sprint, thisl kill ya at first but it works for me.....

I never liked the idea of punching the bag 'til you drop. I always thought it was better to pace yourself and actually thinking about how you're going to land your punches and working the bag as you would a real living and breathing opponent. Working the bag according to rounds is good because it allows you to work on different things for each round. You can focus on how you'd set up your punches, how to get your body set and throw different combinations. There's not really a limit of what you can practice. Ultimately all of your training should condition yourself for fighting and aspire to the way you'd really fight.
Punching and going over the various moves should be well controlled, and going all out on the bags really defeats the purpose of improving on your punches. If you want stamina you can keep the pace up as high as you can manage (without sacrificing good technique) for the length that you'd have in a real bout. As you get better you can increase the pace, and start to add a round or so when you can handle it. Since you're training for an actual bout which consists of rounds it wouldn't be a bad idea to increase the intensity and hardness in the last seconds before the bell of each round. If you want to build yourself mentally then everything you do when your training should be well thought out with a good valid reason behind everything that you do.
Re: i just cant get stanima
Well Chris u no i respect ur opinion, mayb i should try post a video of me trainin to clarify what im tryin to say. I never throw anything at the bag that i havent prepared in a combination earlier on the pads. Only problem is it gets a bit robotic, Kiltschko syndrome i think its called
