Will Wladimir Ever Be in Another Big Fight Again?
I only ask this because the heavyweight division is so scarce of any kind of prospect or draw on the horizon and it's already set that he'll never fight his brother. Will the rest of his career be reduced to fighting non PPV fights that no one cares about?
Re: Will Wladimir Ever Be in Another Big Fight Again?
If he's ever in with a big puncher-he'll get knocked-out ;D

If Holyfield wins against Sultan, he may just be dumb enough to call out Wlad to try and unify. I want to see Holyfield vs. Klitchko more than almost any other fight possible, and I would be willing to pay whatever it would cost.
Keep in mind, that it's damn near impossible for Holyfield to lose a decision regardless of how bad he gets his ass kicked over the course of 12 rounds. He is a media darling and a judges favorite, so unless Sultan knocks him out (he should) they will give the decision to Holyfield.

Sam Peter is a pretty big puncher, and he did a pretty good job of avenging his loss against Brewster (also a big puncher)
Steward has ironed out the flaws in Wlad, and he is now one of the better heavyweights we've seen in a very long time. Possibly since "prime," Bowe.

Good point.
Re: Will Wladimir Ever Be in Another Big Fight Again?
Holyfield couldn't deal with Lewis' jab back in 99 and he was knocked out by Toney. It would be a disgraceful lopsided win for Wlad. The only thing positive that could come of it is maybe then Holyfield would realize it's time to retire.

Bowe was champion before Lewis......Lewis was without a doubt better then Bowe.......Wlad has a long way to go before being better then Lewis or as good...Lennox was champ a long time and beat everyone he faced......He ruled the division when it had far better fighters then now....Age is why Lewis retired he knew it was his time.....

BS, Lewis quit because he wanted no part of Vitali again and the thought of fighting Wlad was even scarrier to him. The HW division did not die when Lewis left, it saved face by having a wuss leave.

::** I did feel sorry for Vitali because I had him winning but you can't fight with cuts as severe as that. Lewis did the smart thing and retired at just the right time...you can't knock him for that.

CC back at ya....I am just saying.....Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course....You don't have to like Lewis but you can not take away from what he accomplished....Say what you want about him retiring before a Vitaly Rematch----Vitaly was stopped plain and simple...was Vitaly ahead yes but those were the early rounds he won...Lewis won the last 2 before the stoppage....Vitaly also was 6 years younger then Lewis...Lennox went out on a win...why stick around another year just to satisfy Vitaly.....And who is to say Vitaly would have won....
Re: Will Wladimir Ever Be in Another Big Fight Again?
That's it mate. Boxers get flack for fighting beyond their best years and now I see one getting shit for retiring on top. It's bloody crazy if you ask me.....he beat every man he ever faced and retired at a perfect time to preserve his legacy.
Re: Will Wladimir Ever Be in Another Big Fight Again?
Lewis did retire after an unconvincing win ... but he was also an unconvincing Lewis in that fight. It wasn't Klit himself that scared Lewis off, and he is no wuss. But he had a certain gravity toward laziness that showed itself from time to time in unpreparedness. I think in terms of talent, he could have trained harder and come back to beat Klit convincingly. Not as convincingly as he did Rahman perhaps, and not easily, but without controversy.
But the task of coming back that prepared to fight this foe - at this time in his career - it all works together for him to make the decision he did.
Kind of cheap to take all the complexity out of his life and boil it all down to his (imagined) fear of Klitschko.
Seems like everyone lives in a shallow, predictable cartoon sort of sitcom ... everyone else, that is ... everyone except our very own selves, where we all know "it ain't that simple" as we go about making our own personal decisions in life.
How come is that? ??? :-\

Perhaps that's what I should of said instead of something as inflamitory as he was a wuss. I just get mad at the thought that people believe the HW division died after he left. That's ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned, his record was no more impressive than that of other HWs and it's sad that he was only willing to face the old Tyson not the 90's Tyson.
