Will Emmanuel Augustus ever pull his finger out?
I noticed he's fighting again in a couple of weeks. Against a guy who isnt much but who's only loss is UD to Juan Urango.
Im thinking if he does a number on this guy he could well find himself back in in the mix with the ranked boys.
The thing is, this is Augustus were talking about. The guy never wins when he is supposed to. Never!
For what ever reason, Agustus has been an entertaining disapointment but none the less, he always has the ability to put his 'career' back on track. And always seems to find the opportunities to do so.... The fight with Kid Diamond being the most recent.
My question is, will Augustus ever do enough to at least get him self a title shot?

He's kind of designated himself as the Fall-back guy. The only time he gets to fight someone with a name is when somebody backs out and he has 2 weeks or less notice before the fight. If he had better management, his career would be completely different.
Re: Will Emmanuel Augustus ever pull his finger out?
can't see Augustus getting a shot at a champion, even if he started to take his career seriously
i still can't see him been much more than an entertaining journey man.

Augustus is a joke. He had talent at one time. But he threw it away. He doesn't deserve a title shot. He's a disgrace to boxing

I remember hearing about how he took a dive in the 12th round or something i haven't seen the fight but thats what i heard but yea he did have talent he broke Mayweather's nose and gave Mayweather a decent fight whatever happened to this guy i will never know this sounds like a case of wasted talent.

Misconception. He bloodied Mayweather's nose. He didn't break it. Mayweather dominated him.

I thought he broke it my mistake and what i mean is that he tried his hardest against Mayweather and atleast tried it looked like he was landing quite a bit but i watched the fight a 2nd time and he missed an aweful lot Mayweather did dominate him and he won every round easy i really enjoyed that fight one of my favorite Mayweather fights.
Re: Will Emmanuel Augustus ever pull his finger out?
Augustus's best achievements were both losses,
Against Ward (FOTY 2001 Ring Magazine) Lost by UD
and
Against Mayweather Lost by TKO
He has fought some great fighters and important names in the last 2 decades
but at 32 years old and 70 fights under his belt (come the end of the month)
He has missed his chance.
Re: Will Emmanuel Augustus ever pull his finger out?
I think he is way past it now. He coulve been, but never will be.
Re: Will Emmanuel Augustus ever pull his finger out?
He smoked too much weed.
Never took his career seriously.
Re: Will Emmanuel Augustus ever pull his finger out?
I've been watching him since he was Emmanuel Burton. I've always thought of him as a very entertaining boxer with a hard style for anyone to match against. Sure he does "just enough to lose" in most of his fights most of the time. It still doesn't take away from his appeal for me. Gotta love a guy that gets a ref so flustered he takes away a point for the guy putting himself at a disadvantage.
As far as getting a real shot, I don't think so.
Re: Will Emmanuel Augustus ever pull his finger out?
I doubt he'll EVER get a title shot. Augustus has blown it one too many times. Had he beaten Diamond then yes, he would be well on his way. But instead he was/is either shot or threw the fight. Either way he let himself and his fans down big time in that fight. It was horrible.

I had Emanual winning on my card, but there were plenty enough close rounds
to be considered a judges nightmare.
