Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
Coming up in the next two weeks-neither on TV which sucks but is besides the point
I still don't know that much about Witter, I've never seen him live and have only been able to download a couple of his fights. I don't know who will win but Witter is most likely somewhat less of a dumbass than Harris. Have to go with Witter on the basis that Vivian is stupid.
Holt-Torres, I've always said Cotto's recklessness in their fight made Torres look better than he is and I think he looked pretty crappy against Arnaoutis. Holt has been impressive the last two times out but both guys I think were a bit made for him. I still think he has a shaky chin although he's been impressive and he's definitely a very athletically talented guy and pretty skilled. I'm going with Holt by stoppage although two things worry me: his chin (along with Torres power) and the fact that the fights in Colombia, who knows if the judging will be impartial. It could easily be that but you never know.
So, predictions? Anybody care about the fights.
Re: Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
Witter-Harris: Harris was beaten by Maussa, Witter is almost certainly better than Maussa so therefore Witter will win. But we all no boxing doesn't always work out like that. I like Vivian Harris, he's got a solid jab, goos speed but I have to question his punch and his chin. He usually struggles with guys who get up in his face, cause him problems and make him focus alot more than he would like too.
This is the ultimate antithesis of Witter who stays on the outside and then comes in with flurries and keeps his jab moving. The one man too beat Witter is Zab Judah who isn't disimilar to Vivian Harris. Styles make fights and I'd take Harris to win by UD.
Holt-Torres: Most people I have spoken too are backing Holt in this and they have good reasons too. He looked excellent against Isaac Hlatshwayo and Mike Arnaoutis. After putting Hlatshwayo down 3 times and TKOing David Diaz many people would be forgiven for thinking Holt is a puncher but he is certainly not having only KOed 12 out of 22 opponents and many of this opponents who have survived the distance like Andre Trunov (8-3-0), John Trigg (11-23-5) and Juan Carlos Escobar (3-2-5) had far from impressive records when he fought them. He is a bit loose with the blows below the belt, isn't a great finisher and has a suspect chin.
Torres' exposure came from flooring Miguel Cotto and despite not being as good as he looked there he is still a good fighter. He packs a good punch but not as good as his padded record suggests. His only loss has come against an elite fighter (Cotto). If Torres uses his hand speed it is very effective but sometimes makes amateurish mistakes and leaves his chin open in search of the big shot.
Here i'd back Torres to win by a late TKO.
Re: Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
My opinion on these fights is..... come to think about it, I have none. I really don't care what happends in these fights one way or another. Thats not excactly true. I hope Witter loses so I can stop reading about him.
Re: Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
I'm going Witter late TKO round 8 and also Holt win UD.
Harris will gas out a little and then catch a second air around the 6th, 7th round I think Witter or his corner will seee this and take advantage of this in the 8th where he will be gased out again.
Holt I think is far more skilled then Torres and I think Holt will do what Arnoutis couldn't finish. Holt will be a bit to slick for Torres and will counter him all night.
Re: Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
When Witter fought Judah he was a mere noive that took the fight on about a few days notice. He did not do himself any favours by running like a thief in the night for 36 minutes though.
Witter's stanima is questionable also in my view but I think Witter will pull this one out.
Re: Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
2 title fights that will make absolutley no difference to the top man at 140

You must mean assuming Hatton isn't in fact sent into retirement when Floyd whips him..
Re: Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
I am indeed assuming that IF Floyd whips Hatton he will not retire.

Didn't really mean to be smart about it, it's just that since Hatton is techinically fighting Floyd at welterweight, if he were to win he has the ring belt there and that's where the money fights are... I guess it is likely he'll move back down to 140 even if he were to pull it off though.

Win or loose im pretty sure its Oscar at 147, then after that, do you think he will go back down? Depends on what of fans over in the States he makes after these two huge fights, because he is earning like £7 million for the Floyd fight, do you think he will want to go fight Torres or Witter for like 1.5/2 million?

if Hatton was to win then surely he'll stay at welter ???
As u said the moni fights are here ad he;ll have he belt
guess we'll just have to see what happens
but no doubt Whinger Witter will say that by going up a weight and staying there Hatoon dodged him ::**

£7 million will be his biggest pay.He has no other choice but to go down and fight other fighter whose matchups with him will be less lucrative.
Re: Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
If there is a god and he's smiling on me, Witter will get brutally KO'ed in round 1.
I pick Torres to pull out a split decision over Holt. That's a toss up for me though.
Re: Two junior welter title fights: Witter-Harris and Holt-Torres
Harris by knock out. Holt on points
