Re: Next HBO/Showtime card?
I thought Showtime was going to have Oganov fight for the vacant IBO SMW title on Sept. 1st. He's 26-0 (26 KO's) - I want to see this guy!

I wouldn't think that would be a regular Showtime broadcast but maybe Shobox. Either way that's something.
Re: Next HBO/Showtime card?
Yeah 10pm, maybe a special Shobox on a Sat. night?
Re: Next HBO/Showtime card?
It is listed, just checked. Oganov/Zuniga, don't know what the undercard is, or if there is one.
Re: Next HBO/Showtime card?
Yeah, I didn't see any undercard bout either. With those 2, I doubt it goes the distance. Maybe they can spend the rest of the time discussing the Vargas bout that would have been & may or may not be now.

The undercard is James Kirkland Vs. Mohammad Said "Whaaaaat?!" .
Re: Next HBO/Showtime card?
Also this Thursday on Versus that fella Huerta is getting another chance in the spotlight.
Who know who Huerta, right Mick? He's the guy Kid Diamond beat up last. ;D
Re: Next HBO/Showtime card?
Versus and ESPN really have dropped the ball in regards to setting up fairly even matches between young fighters and older fighters....I thought the momentum from the Mosley-Estrada card would have really lit a fire under those guys over at ESPN and Versus.
Versus had Pavlik fights on tv that's big time.
I think the main thing bothering boxing is while on such channels as HBO and Showtime they are devoid of ADVERTISEMENTS.....ie there is nothing to draw people into boxing, MMA has GNC stuff and powerbars and tribal tatoos.....and boxing USED to have PBR, Gillette, Miller High Life, etc....MAN products.
The lack of advertising = the lack of intrest
EXAMPLE...NASCAR is basically a 3 and a half hour commercial and it has only grown in popularity and boxing went from basic tv to cable to special packages to ppv all of which have less and less advertising and boxing's popularity has steadily declined
Re: Next HBO/Showtime card?
HBO's card...can't wait for the next one...it'll be a nail biter I think.
Marquez vs Juarez

Spot on fellas that's the card right there.
Oganov vs. Zuniga and Kirkland vs. Said 'Whaaat?!' as the ring warmer.

Those are great points! You're right, the only advertising for boxing you see on TV is for upcoming PPV fights. You're also right about ESPN, I thought they claimed that 1st PPV fight card of theirs did so well.
