Amir Kahn breaks WBC top 10!!!
http://www.frankwarren.tv/drill/News...bc-top-10.html
Amir Khan has received a boost ahead of his October 6 fight with Scott Lawton with the news he is now rated at number 10 by the WBC.
The sanctioning body's title is regarded as one of the most prestigious in the sport.
Their current WBC champion is David Diaz.
Khan's has moved up in the August ratings, having previously broken the top 25.
It follows his win over Willie Limond in July at London's O2 Arena, in which he climbed off the floor in the sixth round to force his opponent to quit two rounds later.
The 20-year-old faces English champion and former British title challenger Lawton at the Nottingham Arena.
Meanwhile Khan has also cemented his position in the latest WBO ratings, moving to number seven.

Good for him.
He's been seen around Portsmouth quite a bit. I have heard he is buying a flat here.
Approachable fella
Re: Amir Kahn breaks WBC top 10!!!
All the ratings are nonsense/rubbish.
Having said that i reckon Khan could beat that Diaz ;D
Re: Amir Kahn breaks WBC top 10!!!
Top 10 i wouldnt even rate him in the top 50. he's an overated bum.
Re: Amir Kahn breaks WBC top 10!!!
He should'nt be rated in the top ten no way.His last fight showed that he still has alot to learn before he goes in with any that is anywhere near world class!
Re: Amir Kahn breaks WBC top 10!!!
fair play to Amir hope he goes all the way to the top.
Re: Amir Kahn breaks WBC top 10!!!
It's up to him to show if he deserves to be there or not....i wouldn't have him there but i guess there are enough of the right people who would and do.
Re: Amir Kahn breaks WBC top 10!!!
Very few fighters ranked at 10 by any of the organisations are great fighters, so I don't see this as a big deal. If he was at 4 or 5 it would be strange, but a high profile, talented young fighter ranked at 10 is not that shocking. There is money to be made off his back and a ranking makes it easier to give him the big fights.

Which one?
I think Amir is doing great but they need to slow down his development now. We've just seen in the past month two of boxing's hottest prospects in Bautista and Bernard Dunne get annihated by big punchers in a single round. Khan has great talent but they don't want to be throwing him in with a puncher for another couple of years imo.
Basically any guy who has a KO ratio greater than 25% should be avoided.
After Lemond, it should be Fehmi Fehintola, Ricky Burns and then Gavin Rees, hopefully for the world title.
That would be the Frank Warren way. 8)

Re: Amir Kahn breaks WBC top 10!!!
forget the alphabet ratings - he won't be anywhere near The Ring top ten
and he certainly isn't ready for a title shot any time soon

Thoroughly deserved. Khan has beaten some serious world class opposition and to me, is in the top 10 lightweights in the world. Fuck it, I say we put him in there with Wlad, Khan is so seasoned he could beat a Heavyweight no problem. He'd take the punches with his rock hard chin and come back with better ::**

I half meant it tongue-in-cheek hence the smiley-teeth face.. but come to think of it, Diaz is so easy to lamp, and seeing as Morales was able to floor and hurt him, I could envisage Khan sparking him early doors.
Sound's a bit mental,
but there you go.
;D
