The new Halloween movie is not a remake. It's a prequel.
Contrary to what many believe, this is a "new," Halloween. They didn't remake the original, this one's different. For all of the film buffs out there...........
It's like the movie "Red Dragon," a Silence of the Lambs prequel and "Manhunter," the original Silence of the Lambs prequel.
Same plot, characters, story line, etc. etc. but a completely different movie.
The new Halloween focus more on the psychosis of Michael Myers rather than the slasher Michael Myers of old(though there will still be some slashing ;))

So far it looks like it will be the best. But commercials always do that to movies... >:mad

It's another Rob Zombie movie (he also did "House of 1000 Corpses," "The Devil's Rejects," and was the lead singer for "White Zombie,") so it's got a different edge to it.
Re: The new Halloween movie is not a remake. It's a prequel.
You mean it'll focus more on what he did in the mental ward like it was written in the book? There's still no need for it. It still takes place over the same sort of events. Red Dragon was backstory. There's no backstory to be told in halloween. They show him killing his sister. They show the institution story part (in either 1 or 2). It's closer to remake than prequel. For it to be closer to prequel they'd have to have a celtic scene where they broke down the significane of the seed tattoo and what not (like they did in the book). I just can't watch it. After I hear some reviews on here I might change my mind tho.
Other than that, Donald Pleasance = Irreplaceable.

Senseless Violence 4!!!
As for another classic I heard that they're working on a prequel for the movie, "The Thing". I hope it doesn't suck. :)

Red Dragon is a remake of Manhunter (the first, but by far the least known about of the Silence of the Lambs movies)........... It is the same movie, it just focuses more on the killer.... ala the new "Halloeeen." ;)

When was that made? All three of them have anthony hopkins in them now and I think that will widely be accepted as "the series". So instead of showing the people he kills it'll show where he's hanging out and all that I guess. It could be ok, it's just that halloween is a classic series and a tall order for anyone to pull off properly especially in todays the more gore the better film industry.

O0
Pretty good as it goes....
IN THEATRES AUGUST 31, 2007 After proving himself a skilled horror movie director, musician-turned filmmaker Rob Zombie tackles a true classic of the genre. A remake of John Carpenter's 1978 film, HALLOWEEN follows the same basic premise, but rather than telling the same story, steps back in time to examine the childhood events which shaped one of cinema's most memorable and interesting psychopaths, Michael Myers
PLOT:
The residents of Haddonfield don't know it yet... but death is coming to their small sleepy town. Fifteen years ago a small six year old boy called Michael Myers brutally slashed his elder sister to death. Locked up till his 21st birthday, he escapes the mental institution that held him for fifteen years and makes his way back to his hometown intent on a murderous rampage pursued by Dr Sam Loomis who is Michael's doctor and the only one who knows Michael's true evil. Elsewhere a shy teenager by the name of Laurie Strode is babysitting on the night Michael comes home... is it pure coincidence that she and her friends are being stalked by him?

It was made in 1986 http://www.amazon.com/Manhunter-Will...8749260&sr=8-3
Same movie as Red Dragon (I just watched Red Dragon again last night) yet it's completely different You're gonna have to watch it to find out what I'm talking about. Manhunter focuses a lot more on the cop that catches "The Tooth Fairy," where as Red Dragon focuses a lot more on "The Tooth Fairy."
Manhunter had a much better ending, imo.
