Williams to meet Skelton for British title
Danny Williams is set to defend his British heavyweight title for the first time against Matt Skelton.
Skelton will look to avenge his only career defeat inflicted by Williams which he suffered in February 2006.
Williams beat Skelton to take his Commonwealth heavyweight title but was beaten by the Bedford boxer in a non-title fight in June .
The 'Brixton Bomber' won the British heavyweight title by beating Scott Gammer and will look to defend it against Skelton before the end of February 2008.
Audley Harrison is also looking to avenge his knock-out defeat to Michael Sprott and take his English Heavyweight title.
The pair contested the vacant title in February and Sprott recovered from going down in the first round to knock the 2000 Olympic champion out.
Harrison's career was left in tatters by the knock-out but he vowed to avenge the defeat after the contest.
He told www.bbc.co.uk: "I'll be back and hopefully I will have a chance to rectify it with Michael Sprott straight away."
Sprott must defend his title before the end of February and will be looking to bounce back from his defeat to Matt Skelton in July.
Both fights have been sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
Not sure if it's a poor showing from Frank or the British Heavyweigt Scene really is that bad
Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
Frank Warren signs a contract with Setanta and gives them Skelton vs Williams 3 ;D
Glad I'm not subscribed to Setanta and as it won't be free on ITV I can't force myself to sit through it.
Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
haha am i the only one who is looking forward to this? i think it will be a bloodbath
Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
Let me guess, Warrens already announced this as a 'world title final eliminator' blah blah blah blah blah.
God this is getting ridiculous
Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
Winner fights Audley then Sprott then Williams/Skelton IV and around again.
Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
Worst thing is we've got 2 great cruiserweights right now either of whom could probably destroy these four in one night. Seriously its getting harder and harder to care about the heavyweights.

Whilst I'm not looking forward to the fights themselves, I think the riot by fans afterwards furious about 24 dreary rounds of boxing could be fairly entertaining, and indeed a bloodbath.
Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
You almost wish that someone starts biting ears or some shit like this so we get some exitment out of british heavyweight boxing at the moment.
Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
Fuck this. I'm off to the pub for a shit.
Re: Williams to meet Skelton for British title
You never no it could be like thier first outing, that wasnt a bad fight. lets try and look for some positive in it. although i feel very sorry that Skelton is fighting him again when he was promised so many world title fights.

Dont feel too sorry for him, hes making good money beating the same few guys. I am a fan of Skelton but with his admittedly limited boxing skills hes not done too bad, Im sure many better boxers are wishing they could make the money he is. He must know he doesnt have a great chance at a world title but hes enjoying a good reign as Britains best.
