Three of the four bouts initially scheduled for Saturday night's canceled HBO PPV card were quickly rescheduled -- Juan Manuel Marquez-Rocky Juarez, Robert Guerrero-Martin Honorio and Steve Forbes-Francisco Bojado.
The fourth, a middleweight clash between Sergio Mora and former junior middleweight titlist Kassim Ouma, won't be rescheduled this year.
With no TV slots available on premium cable or on pay-per-view undercards to accommodate the costly fight, and the Ouma camp unwilling to take a pay cut, Mora, the first-season winner of "The Contender," will instead face an opponent to be named Oct. 16 at Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Mora's bout will air live on ESPN Classic immediately followed by the card's main event on ESPN between "Contender" season one fan favorite Alfonso Gomez facing Ben Tackie in a welterweight fight, on ESPN.
Mora (19-0, 4 KOs), idle since August 2006, took a significant pay cut in order to fight on the card, "Contender" promoter Jeff Wald told ESPN.com.
"Sergio wants to fight and we want to get him busy," Wald said. "We'd love to fight Ouma after the first of the year, when there will be more TV dates available. ESPN was very gracious to give us an hour (on ESPN Classic) to showcase our 'Contender' champion and we are going to take advantage of it."
Wald said in addition to possibly revisiting the Ouma match next year, Mora would like to eventually face the winner of the Sept. 29 fight between middleweight champ Jermain Taylor and Kelly Pavlik.
Wald also said he has been approached by the handlers of "Irish" John Duddy about a Duddy-Mora fight in New York around St. Patrick's Day in March.

Kassim said he wanted to rip Mora's head off but now there is not enough money involved? I would have done it for nothing.
Re: Kassim wont fight Mora because there is not enough money involved.
He wants the winner of pavlik-taylor? I guess we can all breathe a sigh of relief because he will be KO'd soon enough. We will have to wait alittle longer that we had hoped but it will still happen sometime next year.
Re: Kassim wont fight Mora because there is not enough money involved.
I would rather see Mora/Pavlik than Mora/Taylor.
I hope Pavlik knocks out Taylor but chances are this is going 12 based on both fighters chins.
I hope Pavlik does not get robbed.
Re: Kassim wont fight Mora because there is not enough money involved.
Well boxing is a business, I think the pay could be an excuse for him not liking the weight. Could be a blessing in discuise, he is a lot more of a factor at 154 and 147. I haven't really got a problem with this.
I don't think Mora-Taylor/Pavlik is realistic anymore. I really like the idea of Duddy - Mora. That would be awesome.

Pavlik will not get robbed. But he will be getting dominated.

You think? personally I reckon Taylor is ripe for the taking. Winky had him battered by the end of the 12 th round in their fight, Pavlik will knock him out. He's going to be saved by the referee in this fight.
Re: Kassim wont fight Mora because there is not enough money involved.
Ouma should have taken the fight, IMO it was a fight he would win & would have lead to bigger paydays! Now he will be outta the ring even longer.

I'm one of the few who actually likes Mora, but I thought Ouma was going to beat him pretty soundly with his non-stop punching style. Like Amat said, I think Duddy - Mora would be a pretty good fight.

Battered? I think it was a pretty close fight with Winky's defence having him win by a few rounds. Also I believe Winky would have his way against Pavlik. Taylor has a chance against Pavlik who is much slower, and doesn't hit as hard as advertised at least not in the one punch scenario. Anyway I cut it I see it being a toss up for now, but IMO either fighter could potentially dominate the fight.
Re: Kassim wont fight Mora because there is not enough money involved.
Uoma's better than Mora but Ouma won't see as easy a payday than when he accepts the fight at 160. It's in Ouma's best interest to take the fight and make a statement; their just aren't enough agreeable matchups at 154. Ouma's like a bigger Kermit Cintron; very good but cursed with a weight class that's just a little too talented for him to land a showcase fight.
Pavlik - Taylor will be like Soliman - Wright. Closer than a lot of people expect, but the stronger fighter will do enough to win.
