Morrisons wouldn't serve alcohol to a 72 year old man because he didn't have any ID to prove he was over 21 ??? :banghead:

It makes me laugh mate, this country is as you put it going to the dogs, i remember about 18 months ago i was asked for ID for cigs. First time i had bought cigs in my life i was in a suit and was 22 at the time. I couldnt stop laughing.
That was also at a supermarket.

Last week it was the news that a 4 year old girl was told to take down her hood in a family arcade as they had a 'no hoodies' policy. The manager defended it saying we need to be able to see people's faces in case they commit a crime. SHE WAS 4!!! ::**
I experienced this level of stupidity myself a few years ago. Recovering from cancer I was given a special grant of a few hundred pounds to sign up for distance learning A levels.
The government privided me with a letter to send to the distance learning people that said they would cover 90% of the funding for me and I only had to pay 10% of the costs myself.
When I booked them I told them my mum was going to pay my 10% on her credit card. The woman on the other end of the phone was reading the instructions completely literally and told me that I PERSONALLY had to pay the 10% and not my mum. :banghead:
I tried to explain to her that she was clearly an idiot and that the letter didn't imply that I actually had to prove that the 10% was my own personal money and that my mum paying didn't count but she was having none of it.
She actually made my mum come on the phone to speak to her and then tried to make me promise her that I was going to pay my mum back ::** ???
I politely told her she was a moron and that I was going to put the phone down and ring again hoping that someone with a brain would pick up next time.
She said I was rude and that she was only trying to do her job.
I said whoever gave you your job obviously didn't do theirs. ;D
Anyway after I spoke to a normal person they signed me up no problem.
But these idiot people really do exist, I met one!

I got carded at the Diaz/Freitas fight. I asked the guy how old you have to buy a beer. Some dope behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I bet that hasn't happened to you in a long time." I was 55 yoa at the time. I guess these venues have strict instructions to ask everyone for ID and to not serve anyone that can't present a valid one.

What were you doing buying tabs for the first time at 22? Have you smoked roleys all your life or have you just started on the fag sticks? ;)
You got no excuse at 22 to start, your brain is meant to have grown by then! :P ;)
Re: British beurocracy at its best. 72 year old man asked for ID to buy wine
A friend of mine had the exact opposite thing happen a few years ago. He was down in sc going to buy some beer. When he went to the check-out counter the lady said "I'm sorry I can't let you buy that". So he starts going for his driver's license and she responds with "That won't be necessary, I can tell you're under 21". This ends with him calling for the manager and the manager giving the lady behind the counter a dirty look.

you're all missing the crucial fact that the guy in question was a young looking 72

Unless he was Gary Colemans dad I don't see how it would be possible to look under 21 at 72 :D
