I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
Why did Ricky agree to fight PBF at Welter Weight?
We all know Ricky can not cut it at Welter Weight.
Is it just about the money for Ricky?
Ricky should have insisted Floyd fight him at 140.
Not only will big headed Floyd run around telling everyone he beat the best Welter Weight (LIE) but he will also run around saying he beat the best Light Welter Weight.
We know who the true Welter Weights are and Hatton is not one of them.
What is Ricky going to do when he loses to Floyd?
Run back down to Light Welter Weight again. For sure.
I told everyone before and I will tell everyone again, Floyd will not touch the Welter Weight Division. Not now, not ever. Baldomir was caca with a belt with 13 knock outs. Lost 11 has 6 draws and was knocked out once.
I know some of you are having the woll pulled over your eyes. NOT ME.
Wake up!
Sorry folks but I think Little Ricky is making a big mistake here.

Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
Hatton was in no position to insist that Floyd fights at 140. I don't think the weight will be a problem for Hatton, he was just ill prepared against Colazzo and came in at 155. They will learns from that
PBF still wins though :(
Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
What does that mean that PBF will not touch the WW division. He already has a belt. Hatton isn't a true WW but this is still an elite fight. He came up to the division and took a belt. I agree with you that Hatton will flee back to 140 once he loses, but this is a fight people want to see. And I can definitely see a showdown in the works once this fight happens with whoever wins Cotto/Mosley. I don't see Mayweather being afraid to fight either. And we both know that $$$ talks- it certainly pulled Mayweather out of 'retirement' to fight Hatton; it'll do the same in 6 months or so. The only WW I see being problematic for Mayweather is Paul Williams. Mayweather would have to do some serious work to get inside while avoiding those long, quick arms. And we've seen that Williams brings enough to throw around 100 punches a round. That does nicely to keep a guy off you when he doesn't like to get hit. If Williams can have at least 2 good defenses in the next year I can see Mayweather going after him if he gets past Hatton and the winner of Cotto/Mosley.
Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
I'm sure Ricky will learn to live with the £10million quid "mistake" ;)
Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
I dont agree that we all know Ricky cannot fight at Welterweight after all he has had one fight and yes he struggled but you cant judge him on one fight, we all have a bad day and his preperations for the Collazo fight where all wrong anyway. I think Hatton has shown balls agreeing to fight Mayweather (and in his own back yard) and shows that he going for the big fights now to cement his legacy (as well as his biggest payday).
I agree with BigH that Hatton is in no position to be telling Mayweather what weight to fight at as Mayweather is the pound for pound champ not Hatton. Also if Hatton had picked a different opponent ie Witter, Malagnaggi etc people would have said that Hatton is picking easy fights and not chasing the big ones!!
Plus if Hatton wins it has to put him near the top of the pound for pound list and if he loses (notice I say If) but fights like a champion (which he will) then there will still be other big fights out there for him.
Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
I don't believe ricky cant cut it at welter, il state once agin what iv repeated at least once a week since the collazo fight.
Ricky was an irresponsible and even arrogant lil prick before that fight.
He trained insufficiently, his diet amnd nutrition was cat and he totally under estimated a bona fide champ in Collazo.
Add those factors to Rickys inability to adapt to southpaws and u had a recipe for disaster. I reckon Hatton can indeed adjust to welter.
Bpxer harvey posted at the same time as me so i may be repeating his points, but too lazy to check
Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
I don't agree with you regarding the welter weight division Danny G.
I'd say 90% of people regard Floyd as the man at 147 lbs and I can't think of any other welterweight who has beaten better welterweight opposition than he has.
Floyd has wins over Baldomir, Judah and a 154 lbs Oscar.
Cotto, Margarito, Williams and Cintron's records don't bear any comparison with that.
Mosely has a steller record but we all know that Floyd will fight him or Cotto next anyways.

Hatton struggled because Collazo was a southpaw....no more no less. Collazo was also naturally bigger and stronger.....mayweather isnt. Therefore Hatton's previous fight at 147 doesn't really have any bearing on this fight especially when Hatton will only weight about 147 come fight night.

You are saying Mayweather won't touch elite Welterweights if he beats Hatton ?? i don't believe that for a second Hatton was in no position to make demands if he wants that p4p number 1 spot he has to agree to Mayweather's terms and really and truthfully i think last time Hatton fought at Welterweight was due to him not properly getting used to the weight.
Baldomir was caca with a belt with 13 knock outs. Lost 11 has 6 draws and was knocked out once.
Was Carlos not the Welterweight champion of the world didn't he also beat Judah and Gatti ?? so you would of been happy if he would of avoided the fight with Baldomir ?? yea right whatever Danny you would be first one saying he is ducking Baldomir if Mayweather hadn't of fought him.
Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
Ricky's not making a mistake; he's doing what he's supposed to do as a fighter- fight the best. If he didn't fight Floyd everyone would say he's a p#ssy the rest of his career; now that he's fighting him people are saying he's an idiot for taking the fight. Which is it??? Going to be the richest idiot I ever heard of. Almost no doubt he'll lose this fight, but when is he going to get some props for having the brass balls to get in with one of the greatest ever, and a bigger man at that who has fought and beat everyone in front of him??? Win or {most likely} lose, he's got my respect for trying. This is what boxing needs right now... and in the future.
Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
Agreed Hatton had to make the fight he had no bigger challenge and as has been said he can look back to his bank account and say he lost to the current best p4p fighter. He cannot loose as he is expected to loose but would have preferred Mayweather to have fought Mosley, Cotto and then Hatton, but he chose the easier option which is commercially the sensible thing to do but so far adds little to his legacy and claim to be the greatest fighter ever. We are all still waiting for that.

Baldomir was a flash in the pan. Tough chinned, but nothing more than a jouneyman who took his chance at the right moment.
If he makes it back to the top then I will eat my socks.
I do think Hatton is gonna get it right against Mayweather and we are in for a ballsy close fight. Collazo is a poor yardstick for anyone. Every top fighter has a bad day at the office. Mayweather had a similar fight first time out with Castillo after all.

Still doesn't change the fact he was Welterweight champion of the world also having 2 impressive victorys over Gatti and Judah tell me this Miles would you have been happy with him avoiding the fight ?? the fight needed to happen simple as.
Mayweather had injury to his shoulder in first Castillo fight.

Mayweather had a bad day at the office against Castillo. Than he gave his word to Castillo that they would rematch and kept it. Hatton had his bad day against Collazo. Says he would rematch Collazo. Than breaks his word. I think Hatton knew deep in his heart that he really lost to Collazo and can't really beat him
Re: I really like Hatton but I think he is blowing it.
The Baldomir fight shouldn't be held against Floyd, but he was lucky to find himself in a position to make a "meaningful" fight with a top class plodder. He would of never been facing him if Zab hadn't blown it.
Baldomir is a decent fighter, wasn't in the slighest bit dangerous and shouldn't be trumpeted as an impressive win for the P4P best fighter in the world, silly to make out otherwise.
