just a wee bit of motherly boasting !!!

I just wanna have a little boast about my eldest daughter

she's 10 and has been doin karate oh for less than 8 months
we went to her first major competition on sun (north of england championships)
she was the onli non-black or brown belt picked from her club to compete -she's onli a red belt
and she came forth


she was gutted and crying but we were really really proud

the ppl in her catagory have been taking part in kumite for yrs and are graded much higher than her belt wise
she fought really well and lost third place in a controversial decision(hence the tears)
so its back to the training till the shindo-kai opens in 3 weeks

she feels like she lost because she didnt get a medal but shes onli a kid

she cant wait for next time round.i think one of my other daughter will be competing in that one too but shes insulin dependent diabetic so we have to have her checked and clear it with her consulatant first :-\
but she does it for the execise mainly where as Deenna wants to compete

Thats great news! I love hearing stuff like this! You should be proud of her and you rightly are. She can't be a winner all the time. I love martial arts...my boy has been doing taekwondo now for 18 months and is a red belt (the belts are different to Karate) He's only 5! He's been doing Judo since he could walk (taught by me) and he started officially with a club on his 5th birthday. Walked in and threw all the other kids for Tai-otoshi! (little bit of extra coaching from dad helped there). He fuckin loves it! He regularly beats up 7 year olds but cannot compete until he gets to 8 himself.
I did teach him a couple of chokes and armbars but got in trouble with the wife for that :-X

Keep it up and give her all the encouragement she needs. Well done to her!

Well done babe sounds like she did great and I'm pleased that you are staying true to your pikey roots and teaching her to fight.

I'm sure when she's a bit older and gets trained with the true caravan park fighting weapons of choice, i.e bottles, broken glass and dogs she'll really come into her own.

i have a condition called vasa previa
i just have to take it easy and wait and hope i can get through the rest of the pregnancy and birth without any thing happening(im nearly 25 weeks now)

im trying not to think about it as nothing i do will change it :-\
