Taylor knows he is going to lose and here is why.
G. Leon talking to Kelly Pavlik.
GL: When we last spoke you expressed dissatisfaction over the immediate rematch clause. I understand the rematch is contracted to take place at a higher weight. Since you defeated Miranda to earn your shot, are you disappointed about having to give him a rematch clause?
KP: "I'll fight him again and it doesn't matter to me much. I fought Miranda when I didn't have to. If this one comes up and it's a big problem I'll take it. I don't like it though. If I beat Jermain Taylor I'm the middleweight champion. I shouldn't have to sign for a rematch clause when I'm the mandatory. That's more for their excuses than anything else, they want to be able to say this happened or that happened. Chances are I'm going to beat him so bad he doesn't want the rematch though"

Re: Taylor knows he is going to lose and here is why.
Taylor will give Manny Sterward another headache during the fight. Taylor will be more disobedient this time. Almost like when Steward-Hamed situation against MAB.
Re: Taylor knows he is going to lose and here is why.
I posted about this a while ago. I could not believe it myself. Why the heck would there be a rematch clause at a higher weight but for Taylor only? Excuses. That's why. Taylor willl say he was weight drained etc etc therefore will ask for a rematch. I really really want Kelly to win this fight,I'm starting to find Taylor fwocking annoying! >:mad

Yeah it's the higher weight aspect that really does my head in... I don't see a problem with the odd rematch clause when a legit world champ is defending his title... That's fairly common.. But I've never heard of a rematch clause that will take place at a different weight.. The whole point of the clause is that it is for the middleweight championship... what merit is there in a rematch clause at a weight neither fighter have ever competed at, that won't be for a title?? Doesn't make a bit of sense.. And suppose Pavlik decides not to move up to SMW should he beat Taylor... What then, he'll have to rematch him anyways, at a catch weight or something ???
Re: Taylor knows he is going to lose and here is why.
If Taylor had the confidence to beat Pavlik he wouldn have required a rematch clause

I agree, the significance of the rematch will be diminished if it's at any other weight first and second,Pavlik may not want to move up,although I guess contractual obligations will force him too. These are not the actions of a man of who really has belief in what he is saying nor are they the actions of a true champion!
All this talk of him "having nothing to prove,Having beaten Kelly in the amateurs,Kelly is average," etc and this combined with his poor showings and luck in getting decisions= JT needs to get KTFO.
Re: Taylor knows he is going to lose and here is why.
It would be difficult to enforce, if Pavlik wins he will want to establish himself at middleweight and will not want to fight at the higher weight. It is not an excuse by Taylor more covering all angles and contingencies, but still appearing a dick in the process. Taylor will aim to win and should in my opinion.

No doubt, this is ridiculous ::** There must be some concern about losing to Kelly, so they will have ready made excuses should it happen, and somehow think moving up and having a rematch will be the solution. I think Kelly will be more devastating at 168, as he looks a bit thin anyways and I'm surprised he is as devastating as he is at 160. But, never judge a book by its cover I suppose. I still for some reason think Taylor will win just by speed and experience. But, if he doesn't listen to Manny and hits the ropes out of pride and wanting to swing with Kelly, he's in for alot of pain. Depends like I said if pride becomes an issue with him. This is a hard one for me to pick, like em' both though. If Kelly beats him, it won't be by decision, it will be by an ass whoopin'; so I don't understand why Taylor would want more of him at 168, as it would just be a heavier handed version of Kelly coming in, and I think Taylor will lose some speed moving up, but who knows??? CC to you, I agree 100%. Has a rematch clause ever been at a higher weight of the original fight?? I have never heard of this . Like you ssaid if JT gets KOed at 160 why would he want to fight Kelly at 168..

There has to be concerns. Fighters like Pavlik can end your career. He has hit guys so hard that strechers had to be brought out and men have lost their bodily functions is the ring.
Re: Taylor knows he is going to lose and here is why.
I was thinking JT looked a little big in the countdown show, maybe he is going to weight drained. Not good for him.

Apparently they had their seven day before the fight mandatory weigh in and Taylor had to be under 168 and apparently he was, fairly comfortably. It was an article in a newspaper, Taylor's people said he was better off weight wise than he has been in a while, that's at least according to them. Apparently Pavlik made it fairly easily too.

...if that's the case it'll be the last time they work together.
If Taylor does what Steward tells him to it'll be a much easier fight....jab, move, slip and counter
