Mayweather v Hatton more than a result
give me more than the result :dunce:
The fight gets off to a surprisingly slow start as many expected Hatton to rush Floyd but instead he unsuccessfully tries to box. Mayweather's jab controls the distance and pace of the fight for the first few rounds but Hatton persists to keep his chin tucked/head down and even though he eats some big uppercuts it pays off as Floyd hurts his left hand on top of Rick's big melon!
Now Hatton closes the gap jabbing to the chest and coming over the top with his right. Floyd would normally easily evade Hatton's short arms with his signature right-hand on his cheek left-hand on his hip elusive leaning but he doesn't seem as focussed as normal and has lost some lateral movement. Leaning straight back Floyd eats a couple of rights that bloody his nose in the 5th.
Floyd is fighting very flat footed in the mid-rounds and seems quite happy to stand and exchange with Hatton. It appears that his arrogance self belief has lead him into thinking he should beat Hatton at his own game in the trenches or it could be that he did not have a good camp and his legs aren't what they should be. Constantly laying on the ropes Floyd seems to be fighting lazy and consequently keeps his opponent in the fight.
Now it becomes ugly with Hatton receives 2 warnings for low blows and 1 for coming up with his head. Floyd uncharacteristically complains to the ref which shows he is obviously frustrated.
Even though he hasn't fought the smartest fight and received a lot of body work from the Hitman going into the 10th Mayweather is ahead on all ringside cards. Sporting a cut under his right eye, a lot of swelling around his left and apparently behind on the cards Hatton still seems to rise to the occasion and is surprisingly up on his toes in the later rounds not unlike the Kostya fight.
Bloodied and beat up Ricky seems to be the hungrier pug in the championship rounds pursuing the action he steals both rounds. The judges score cards are read...
Dave Moretti 115 - 113 Mayweather
Duane Ford 115 - 113 Hatton
Jerry Roth 116 - 112 Hatton
and NEW... :fyou: welterweight champion of the world...
Re: Mayweather v Hatton more than a result
Hatton cut and bloodied is inspected by the doctor after the tenth round Graham and Hatton implore the Doctor to let him finish the fight.
Hatton down on all three cards and being slightly outboxed is desperate, he leaves his corner resigned to the fact that he has one more round in which his status, his legacy his whole career will be defined, Mayweather comes from his corner and immediatly attempts to catch hatton over the left eye with his laser like straight right and deepen the cut. Haton manages to hammer home a left to the body and Floyds movement is momentarily halted, Cringing in pain but refusing to go down he splatters against the ropes as Hatton rushes on, Hatton hits arms, hips shoulders anything he can attempting to score a Ko. Mayweather slides along the ropes hoping for escape but is tagged with a big hook upstairs reeling he is again forced to the ropes and the Hatton machine breaks through. Confidence soaring he lights Mayweathers head and body. The end comes as Hatton succesfully lands four unanswered hooks to Mayweathers unprotected head and blood trickles from his silenced mouth.

Thats more of a dream than a vision!!
Really hope Ricky can do it! tbh i think the weight will work to Ricky's advantage here as Floyd is not a full blown welter and Ricky has beeen finding it a struggle to make light welter lately.
The one factor i feel may be advantageous is that Mayweatghers shoulder roll defence will be negated when it's 9in close...I mean when they're really skin to skin Mayweather can't roll out and thats when i think Ricky has a great shot at this.

dreams do come true my friend.. ! 8)
i agree with you.. if hatton can find a way to glue himself to mayweather's chest , maul mayweather he has a live chance. someone said something on ring size playing a roll. i agree with that thinking also. a small ring would help ricky get his distance. a large ring gives mayweather too many options , would likely be an easy win for floyd in that scenario

Absolutlely!!
I think theres a standard ring size in Vegas tho???
20x20 does that sound right?
I no 18 x 18 would be considered small.
Re: Mayweather v Hatton more than a result
not less then 16 sqf and in championship matches not less then 17 sqft. after that its all negotiable.

16 square feet is a 4x4 ring.
Re: Mayweather v Hatton more than a result
Round 1: Floyd comes out and stands in the middle of the ring. Fairly flat-footed. He is trying to gauge Hatton's strength and speed, and is tuning up his defense. Ricky is cautious and throws less than usual. He has a good measure of respect for PBF's speed and counter-punching. He won't get reckless. Ricky was busier. Round 1 Hatton.
Rd 2: Ricky picks up the pace, and so does Floyd. Mayweather still isn't in form, and they fight a fairly busy but close round. Hatton eats some uppercuts and counter-rights. But RH is determined because he knows that he has to establish his fight. They may end up near/on the ropes. It is becoming clear now to Rick that he is not the stronger man in the ring. Close round. Either way. Probably Hatton on activity.
Rds 3/4: Mayweather is busier than in the first coupla rounds. He is landing consistently hard shots now, and blocking Hatton's increasingly wide shots. On some occasions, RH comes inside, clinches and tries to maul. PBF is retaliating by pushing off with the elbow/forearm, and the ref warns him. The first signs of wear appear on Rick's face. Rds 3/4 are Mayweather.
Rds 5/6/7: It is starting to get a bit ugly, and the outcome of the fight is clear now. Hatton, unable to muscle Floyd, and with a considerable skill/speed disadvantage, is getting hit too much. Ricky, being a gamer, rallies. But his face is starting to open badly, and he hasn't solved the puzzle of how to get to Floyd consistently. Perhaps RH takes one of these rounds, but this middle part of the fight is where FMJ really pulls away.
Rds 8/9: Very ugly. Very. At times, it looks "sixth-round-of-the-Gatti-fight-esque". Ricky, uncharacteristically, is fatiguing and his face is a mess. The ref and/or ring doctor has already taken a good look. Floyd puts his foot on the gas. He stays on the perimeter but is launching hard, straight stuff.
Hatton's corner, in a smart decision to preserve their fighter's health and psyche, elects not to send him out for round 10.
Mayweather TKO 9 Hatton.
Mayweather up 6 rounds to 3 at time of stoppage.

Re: Mayweather v Hatton more than a result
Okay, y'all have put forward some different ways that this could happen, now here's how the superheavy sees it. (I know it's the sign of a big ego to refer to oneself in the third person, but I don't care)
Round 1-4 This proves to be the most fruitful part of the fight for Hatton, as he sprints from the trap at his most dynamic best, now really settling into the 147 pound weight, clubbing some of those crippling hooks into Mayweather's body, and a vicious uppercut in the third round which sends Mayweather reeling into the ropes, and sees the thousands of Hatton fans who have made the pilgrimage to Vegas raising the roof with a cacophony of cheers and catcalls. However, Mayweather brings up a solid guard, and gets on his bike, recovering his composure. However, Mayweather's conditioning is impeccable, and his pitter-patter punches manage to cut Hatton in the fourth above the left eye, and set the template for what is to come.
Score at the end of the fourth round: 39:37 for Hatton.
Round 5-8 With Billy Graham urging Hatton to keep up his workrate and keep pounding Mayweather to the body Hatton comes out strongly in the fifth, and repeatedly pushes Mayweather back. However, an overhand right counter from Mayweather stuns Hatton, and gouges open the cut even further, sending blood streaming into Hatton's eye. With his vision impaired, Hatton is forced to depend further on his body shots, and Mayweather picks up on this, guarding well and moving his head when HAtton rarely goes upstairs. Mayweather feels more confident and starts to stand in front of Hatton and seems unable to miss with his right hand, swelling up Hatton's face and pouring ever more blood down Ricky's cheeks and into his eye.
Score at the end of the eighth round: 77-75 Mayweather
Round 9-12 Hatton is slumped in his corner and his sagging shoulders tell the story of him becoming disheartened, and Mayweather in the opposite corner looks fresh and confident, raring to get back in there and continue pounding Hatton. The ninth opens with Hatton taking a flurry of body shots then an uppercut from Mayweather, who is starting to dominate the fight now, and the result seems inevitable. Mayweather takes his eyes off the prize, and starts to taunt Mayweather, winding up his right hand, but as he throws Hatton comes in with a big left hook taking Mayweather off guard, and a right hook to the body followed by another left hook see Mayweather rattled, and he takes a knee to recover his composure. In the tenth, Mayweather goes back to his usual in-and-out style, and regains his composure, but doesn't dare to showboat again. The eleventh slips by the same way, Mayweather taking it with ease, before the huge final round. Mayweather thinks he's got it in the bag, and Hatton gets a soul-stirring speech from Graham, forcing him to go out after Mayweather. Hatton lands big to the body twice, and although he's taking punches, Mayweather is on the run and Hatton chasing. An overhand right seems to rattle Mayweather, but before hatton can pounce Mayweather doubles the jab keeps Hatton off him. Tough to call final round. It goes to the judges.
My final score: 115-113 for Mayweather, but the judges return a MD with scores of 114-114, 115-113 and 115-112

I will be geuninely surprised if Hatton sees the final bell. Whether it's cuts, a closed eye, or accumulated punishment.
This is Hatton's face after Collazo:

Do you feel that the guy in this video can dominate Floyd LATE?

Re: Mayweather v Hatton more than a result
Dios....when did you start watching Ricky?
Re: Mayweather v Hatton more than a result
I started watching RH around Phillips.
I saw Phillips, Tackie on tape, Tszyu, parts of Maussa, Urango, collazo twice, and castillo a couple of times.
I feel that those fights represent a pretty fair cross-section of Ricky's career.
