How far can Amir Khan go as a pro???
The most important thing I think for Khan is that he fights his early fights on undercards so that he can learn his trade slowly and out of the spotlight of the very critical press who dont know a great deal about boxing and how young pros need to learn from fight to fight.
I hope Khan goes the traditional route of British boxers over the years, going for the British ,European then Commonwealth title before a world title fight.
There are to many fighters happy to have crap wrapped around there waist such as WBU,IBO and so on.
If he is moved slowly and keeps his feet on the ground I think he can be a world champ in 3 or 4 years. :o

As far as his legs will take him.
Hope this helps

If he sticks with Frank Warren he'll build up a very nice looking undefeated record, only fight in Britain and have a well respected WBO title within 5 years!
Re: How far can Amir Khan go as a pro???
His amateur pedigree speaks for itself, hes a class act no doubt about that. Â The media frenzy around him will be huge no matter where or how high up the card he fights, is he a Frank Warren fighter yet? at the moment he's physically immature, he also needs time to adapt to pro boxing, but whatever hurdles he has infront of him now, rest assured hes better equipped than most who give up their vest.
World champ? bet your boots on it, but then again Audleys a world champ right now ;D

i think Kahn can become a world champ and im pretty confident in this opinion as much as i cannot wait for him to get his ass handed to him!
Re: How far can Amir Khan go as a pro???
Best thing he can do is drop warren right now. Warren is showing him the fame and fortune at the tender age of 19. Few more years of this; through no fault of his own he will believe he is the best about, end up having his a** handed to him setting him back a good few years.
Said it before; the boy needs to be out in the USA fighting undercards where he is out of the birtish publics sight, leanring his trade in front of people who don't give a rats a** about anyting prior t the fight they will be looking at then.
i think then and only then will he develope into a complete level headed fighter, go on to domonate, unify devisons and truly be reconised as a damn great boxer - right now i don't see warren taking him down that road, who knows? maybe warren will learn how to promote, although i think there is more chance that Jim watts will learn how to call a fight...
Re: How far can Amir Khan go as a pro???
As far as his talent can take him because he obviously doesn't study or hasn't mastered the basics.
Re: How far can Amir Khan go as a pro???
He'll go as far Ed Hopson went.
Re: How far can Amir Khan go as a pro???
I think Amir is a guy that will take a big fight before he is ready and get schooled by someone with a good defense and jab. That being said I think his pro career won't go very far, as said before he needs stronger foundations in the basics.

Warren will not let him go into a fight that he does'nt think he will win, even though Khan wants to be let off the leash he will not be aloud.

With Frank Warren promoting him, there's no way he'll take a major fight for at least another 3 years. It took Ricky Hatton about 30 odd fights before he got a world title shot at the age of about 27.
Amir won't be challenging the Juan Diaz's or Miguel Cotto's of the world's just yet.
I'm personally hoping he gets found out way before he hits the world stage however. His skills are ok but his fundamentals are average at best and I think someobody like Kevin Mitchell would school him right now.
