Pavlik VS Kessler

Looks like that HBO is going for a showdown with Pavlik vs Kessler after the Calzaghe fight. I know that the danish promoter turned down an offer for 3 fights on HBO since he is expecting his boy Kessler to defeat Calzaghe and then squeeze the Americans for more green.

Anyway I hope Kessler will prove he is all what I expect from a danish Viking 8). But still there is only one Calzaghe if he does a Lazy on Kessler I guess it would be hard to sell Pavlik-Kessler.

Pavlik-Kessler would be an other great fight for us Danes ;) hope it will be made, but so far I am very happy with the coming event.

Whats your take on a possible fight with Pavlik-Kessler in the US ? remember Kessler is a big SMW and Pavlik defense is not nearly as good as Kessler.

I pick Kessler for this one as well ;), but Pavlik looks like a rough bad ass. He has the power tool that could put Kessler away.

It would be a competitive fight... bring it on !!!

From what I remember, Pavlik said that he's gonna stay at middleweight for a while and I don't see Kessler making 160 unless he cuts off one of his limbs.

Would be a very intriguing match up at 168 if it ever came together. The only problem I see is that Kessler isn't gonna be that big of a draw in the U.S. after Calzaghe beats him.

Calzaghe vs. Pavlik would be one for the ages............

I think he better worry about getting past Calzaghe first. Even though Calzaghe is getting up there in age, if he still has some hustle left, Kessler will have a mountain to climb in order to beat him.

Actually i read a few of your posts on Taylor vs Pavlik fight and i think you have been underrating Pavlik.

Possibly, but it's easy to overhype a guy who KTFO the guy who beat Hopkins and Wright, as well as KFTO a guy who put a serious hurt on AA. Safe to say Pavlik has a better resume at this point than Kessler, though I personally think they will have pretty equal resumes by Nov. 4.

I think you might underrate him a little, Taeth, because he has holes in his defensive game and he gets hit a lot, and it seems you me a show bit of a preference to fighters who can make guys miss.

That being said - I think Kessler probably wins. I don't think he destroys him, and I would give Pavlik a decent chance.

Calling Taylor crap always kinda bothered me, too - and I don't even like him! Well, as a fighter, anyway. But somebody with his resume should never be called crap.

Kessler's probably a bit too settled in at 168 for Pavlik to jump right in against him there - but I wouldn't be surprised to see Pavlik win that fight. I think it would be more competitive than some expect.

I know I never said Taylor was crap, nor do I think he is now. That being said, I don't think Kelly would even be fighting Duddy if JT had stepped back up to the plate for the rematch with Kelly. As far as Kessler goes, it would be wiser for Kelly to fight some other SM's 1st before jumping right up to Joe or Kessler. Andrade/Pavlik is what I want to see.

no one did call taylor crap. you can't call a guy crap who and i don't like to admit it beat hopkins twice and gave winky wright one of the toughest fights of his career. i also thought that he beat wright. so don't talk bullshit

Pavlik is a monster at Middleweight but Kessler is something different altogether, having seen him up close against Mundine i just don't see Kessler losing to Pavlik. It's a fight that has to happen though, maybe in a year?

How can Taylor not be the benchmark? Even if you debate wheither he won the Hopkins and Wright fights, you can't deny those fights were very, very close. It takes a pretty good fighter to make a fight close (within a round or two) with Wright and Hopkins...and it's not just that he beat Taylor, it's that he KHTFO, literally KHTFO. No pity-pat close decisions. He won it with, as Eric Cartman would say "AuthoraTAY"!

Wow did i direct my comment towards you..calm down. I do bullshit alot though. So you got me there. But my comment wasn't directed at anyone in particular, i was simply making my own observation.

I agree with ya he is a pretty good judge of what pavlik is capable of, i'm just saying it wasn't always that way.
