Castillo set for return !
By Gabriel F. Cordero
Former lightweight champion José Luis Castillo (55-8-1, 47 KOs) returns October 27th against Adan Casillas (20-6, 15 KOs) in a ten-rounder. The bout will take place in the 140-pound division and take place at the Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. The battle will be televised by Azteca TV in Mexico. Castillo is eyeing a possible title challenge against WBO titleholder Ricardo "Mochuelo" Torres in February.

Any thoughts on how Castillo would do against Torres if it were to transpire ?
Re: Castillo set for return !
A Castillo vs. Torres match up would be brutal, it would end by a Torres knockout within 6 rounds.
If it was a prime Castillo, it would be a completely different story.
Re: Castillo set for return !
Poor Jose, he's well past it now, but maybe he needs to keep fighting?

i disagree
castillo on points
Re: Castillo set for return !
No no don't get me wrong, he's still got enough ability to win, but he's so far past his prime i believe he's only a little above average now :(

i don't think he is that shot...
he got stopped by hatton but that shot stops anyone at 140 anyway.
the action leading up to the ko wasn't really conclusive enough to suggest he was shot.
neither is a laboured win over ngoudjo
i think his next fight is a big indicator to whether he is done or not....but even a Castillo at 60% or so should still beat Torres.

I duno . It was only a couple fights back that he scored his greatest ever win . I wouldnt read too much into the hatton fight cuz he wasnt getting apid well for that so probably didnt feel like he should have to get up . Plus he would have never beaten Ricky at any stage in his career . He didnt take a sustained beating so maybe he has summat left against lower level comp .

That would be a superb fight. If Castillo comes through with a decent KO of this guy, I'd be excited to see it.
Re: Castillo set for return !
To say Castillo is shot is a little bit much. Past his best, yes. But shot. I dont think so.
He should win this "comeback" bout. I will be interested to see how he looks. Hatton is really very good. That shouldnt be forgotten.
Castillo might have a few more W's up his sleeve. But to win belts at 140. Im not so sure.

He's not shot yet.
I think he might beat Torres

Yes and as I said months ago Castillo easily won the 3rd round of his match with Hatton. So Hatton weren't fully dominating going into the 4TH
Re: Castillo set for return !
Just the news I've been waiting for, I'd love to see a Castillo v Torres fight, to people who are writing Castillo off, just check out the 3rd round of the Hatton v Castillo fight, you can see that Castillo is really getting settled into the fight and doing some good work, he just got caught with that 1 in a million punch. I still think he'd give Malignaggi fits too.
