liftings effects on build and technique
I've heard before that building up the lats isnt good for boxers because it changes the angle the jab comes from and puts the arms in a more outward position. What do you guys think about this? I can see how it might be true if your lats are HUGE like a bodybuilder but is it worth not doing pullups/lat pulldowns because of?
Is there any point to lifting arms? I dont do it, but if someone can give me a good reason to I will lol.
Re: liftings effects on build and technique
lol youll be able to take body shots easier if u had bigger lats, but i dont see how it could affect your jabs if you're not at a body builders level, youd need at least 5-6 years of pro body building until you can get lats that would set your jabs astray.
lol man, Tyson and Roy Jones Jr done pull ups that i know 100%, and im very sure a lot of other boxers do it as well.
Re: liftings effects on build and technique
Im a boxer first, then a little bit of a lifter. Iv got naturally very big lats, but they cause me no problems, in fact they are fundamental to my bodywork and aggresive style.

Nah, don't believe that for a second
Most boxers with a creible physique would have trained their lats at one point or another, so do n't worry about developing big lats like a bodybuilder unless it is your intention to do so.
If anything you will gain punching power if your body is more developed.
I have developed my lats pretty well due to weight training and from my experience there has been no real difference in my boxing movements at all.
So yes, my advice would be to do some kind of weight training regime....You will become a better athlete for sure

There are things you can do to compensate for the problem
