I have to admit something about Mayweather.....
Though I am not a fan of his I will say this about Floyd....
Aside from his accomplishments he impressed me this year by fighting DLH then agreeing to meet Hatton in Dec...Floyd did not have to fight Hatton and TBH no one would have thought less of him if he did not other then some Hatton fans claiming he was scared of him....
I always said Floyd did his best to take the easiest route in success if at all possible but truth is he will fight anyone anytime...He proved that in 2007......
That in no way means I am trying to say I doubted Floyd's abilities because he has them all no way to deny that...He has also fought some tough guys like Corrales and JLC but at the time those fights were necessary for him to get ahead in the game....
Like I said I am still not a fan but will admit when I am wrong and this year Floyd proved me wrong....
Fighting a guy like DLH above your weight class then another P4P fighter shows he is more then mouth if called out.....
Re: I have to admit something about Mayweather.....
Its good he's the best in the world so we've always got someone trying to acheive greatness by being able to say they have beat probably one the best there will be.
Without Mayweather we wouldn't have had some of our favorite fighters get a chance to have the honour.
........So we all hate him. And we know it needs something special to beat the guy.
We have to give him that.
Re: I have to admit something about Mayweather.....
I think he wants to stay in the lime light, and deep down he knows that him, by himself isn't enough to draw the attention he needs.

CC,I agree with that.
Re: I have to admit something about Mayweather.....
I don't think Floyd or his camp consider Hatton to be any threat at all. They consider Hatton easy pickins since his is the small guy moving up.
They look at Hatton as a Big Name+Easy Money. There are hardened established Welters he could be fighting, but they are too risky.
I hope Ricky carries the extra weight well and surprises the hell out of him and his camp. If Ricky can turn it into a dirty fight without getting penalized, I give him a chance as it will throw Floyd off his game.

CC,totally agree. He definitely sees Hatton as easy pickings, hence the dancing game at the same time! I hope Ricky does well!

Make no mistake Floyd does not take anyone lightly.....At minimum all the practice is like adding a regime to your workout....Dancing they way they do is something that takes Cardio...

I disagree to be honest mate. He only fights fighters where he can make money. Hatton brings the money because of the intrest in the Uk.
There are more fighters out there that probably are a more dnagerous fight on paper. But the money isnt there.

You also have to look at it style wise Daxx. I've heard Mayweather himself say he likes a guy that comes forward non stop, and few do that like Hatton. He thinks Hatton's style will allow him to express himself.
As for dancing, yeah I know it's good for cardio but still,to appear on some tv show, and what if he had gotten further into the competition? If I were fighting a guy and training my ass off, whilst he was in a dance competition,I'd use that as motivationas in it shows he was taking me lightly.

Agreed again. Hatton brings the $$$. Look at the timing of the fight. This fight could have taken place at 140. Now Mayweather is at 147,where there are far more established fighters than Hatton and now the fight is taking place? It's a smart business move by Mayweather, the emphasis being on business move.
It should still be a good event,I just hope the fight is exciting.
Re: I have to admit something about Mayweather.....
I don't give Floyd credit for the Oscar fight, because that was simply for and about money. The Hatton fight, however, I give him credit for because Hatton is probably Floyd's most imposing physical challenge of his career. I also think that Floyd seems motivated to prove the doubters wrong and that could spell doom for Hatton.

Yeah but we all know this El G Floyd is not like most guys...He is in peak condition at ALL times...Floyd never stops training....If he was a guy who balooned up 20lbs inbetween bouts and had a habit of the night life ect I could understand but the guy is ready always....not too many people can say that....I am sure Floyd is not or should I say was not wrapped up in the whole show thing...he practiced with his partner..went to gym...appeared at the taping then left again....I just do not see Floyd as a guy who blows off opp especially a guy in the P4P list?
DAMN I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM MAKING A CASE FOR PBF....I AM NOT EVEN A FAN LOL

How can you NOT give him credit for fighting ODH???....WTF if the money thing supposed to mean...once you get to the level of PBF the only people left to fight are other P4P guys....Floyd is at the point now he only fights for adding to his his legecy DLH was bigger and stronger then Floyd that deserves respect he did not need to fight him...What he was supposed to say..."No I can not fight Oscar it wopuld be wrong because it would be a HUGE payday and boxing is not about making money"...........
Just for a bit of current event's....If the local bag boy at the supermarket fought DLH he would get paid a fortune...DLH ==== $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.............How can you fault a guy for taking the fight because there is also a big payday?
That makes no sense

I disagree. Oscar was a big jump up for Floyd and Oscar was much bigger. Obviously there was alot of money, but Floyd risked much getting into the ring with him. I don't see Hatton being the most imposing physical challenge, he is shorter in heigth and reach and is only dangerous with one punch really, that killer left hook downstairs. Floyd will literally inhale Hatton and make Hatton look like he fell into a tree shredder. I have massive respect for Hatton even taking this fight with Floyd and am excited about it, but Floyd had other options more dangerous than Ricky to play with: Cotto, Mosley, or even Williams or Margarito.
