It's Over. McCall vs Gomez.......spoiler !!!
JC Gomez defeats McCall!
In an important heavyweight bout, #4 rated Juan Carlos Gomez (42-1, 35 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over #2 rated Oliver McCall (51-8, 36 KOs) to claim the WBC International championship on Friday night at the Estrel Center in Berlin, Germany. The quicker 34-year-old Gomez was able to outbox the 42-year-old former heavyweight champion to compile a big lead. McCall turned up the heat over the last few rounds, but never landed the big equalizer as Gomez went on to win by scores of 116-112, 118-110, 118-110. The bout was a rematch of their fight two years ago, which was won by Gomez but changed to a no contest after Gomez failed a drug test. Fightnews.com has the rest.

Well, I was going to put it in a little more polite turn of phrase, but you're bang on. Hopefully these defeats will send McCall and Holyfield into retirement, where they can only get really hurt by domestic items and more mundane things.
I guess it also must put Gomez into the mixto get a title fight, or at least an eliminator in his next outing.

Damn, well the think is McCall shouldnt have fought him again from a management standpoint but being the guy he is he probably wanted to. Hopefully he doesnt fall too far in the ratings cause their is no shame in losing to a 42-1 fighter who is avoided by many other heavyeights. McCall can still give anyone a run and he is still dangerous and has a great chin. Gomez is also a guy who can give anyone a good fight but he is like McCall, a big risk, little reward.

I wanna see Oliver McCall fight Kimbo Slice in a streetfight! My money is on McCall. ;D 8)

I know the argument that the old guys really need to make way for the new talent, but I always find myself rooting for the old guys. I know I made a snide remark, but I was disappointed. Of course, the whole sad state of the division is what allows these guys to stay competitive, but it appears that they still have trouble at the very top.
I didn't see either fight, but it sounds like neither one was decisive enough to force retirement. Now I can't help but to worry about the old dudes...

Hahaha wow. I'll give Mccall this though, he could take a punch with the best of em. I'd kinda like to see him retire now and keep the "never been knocked down, never been knocked out" claim.
