So who wins this heavyweight tournament
Its just fantastic that two guys that Wlad has already dominated are in this tournament, I mean its hard to understand the anticipation I would feel for a Byrd or Brock rematch with Wlad. It would just be overwhelming.
But either way, ignoring that, who wins. We've got Povetkin-Byrd and Chambers-Brock. Who wins these, who wins the final?

If these are the best chalengers the HW division can come up with for an elimination tounament to a title shot, we are truelly living in sad times for the once greatest division in boxing.
Re: So who wins this heavyweight tournament
.....well in the end Wladimir will win of course, none of those guys has anything Wlad hasn't already seen.
Povetkin is too green and too small to do anything to Wlad
Re: So who wins this heavyweight tournament
I'm interested to see what else Brock can give

Reall, Brock is the choice for me also. I 1st saw him fight McCline going on 3 years ago and liked him. I hope if anyone wins this tournament it's him. Was kind of sorry he got laid out by Wlad, but hope he can still be i the mix. Wish he could drop down to cruiser :-\
Re: So who wins this heavyweight tournament
Brock seems like a nice guy, although maybe not the best technically or power wise he's brave and seems to be willing to fight anyone. I think thats what the heavies needs; a guy who will get in there and do his best with anyone.
Re: So who wins this heavyweight tournament
Well, if no one else is gonna say it...
Of these 4 contenders Alexander Povetkin is gonna take the crown. Easily.
Against Klitschko, I'm not so sure. But until then..., well mark my words.
Re: So who wins this heavyweight tournament
don't try defending how exciting the heavyweights are guys, it can have permenant results :sitr:

Povetkin, Byrd open workout!
Tuesday, October 23 2007
Four days ahead of their highly-anticipated IBF eliminator in Erfurt, Alexander Povetkin and Chris Byrd displayed their skills in public during Tuesday´s official press work-out. The former IBF/WBO champion was the first man in the ring. Instructed by father and coach Joe, Byrd proved his mobility and speed. "I am in great shape," he vowed. "I´ve been through so many twelve-round fights in my career. My experience will help me." While Byrd has won 40 of his 44 fights (21 KOs), Povetkin is unbeaten in 13 bouts (10 KOs). Once again, the 28-year-old remained tight-lipped prior to a fight, suggesting he will let his fists do the talking in the ring."My training has been geared towards a world title fight for over a year," he said. "I am determined to take the first step." The winner of Saturday´s encounter will just be one victory away from challenging IBF supremo Wladimir Klitschko. European middleweight champion Sebastian Sylvester and his opponent Simone Rotolo also worked out in front of numerous boxing fans, just like Mads Larsen, Yoan Pablo Hernandez and Jimmy Kapanov.

Eddie is slick, he's tough to catch clean....he doesn't have power but he does have fast hands.
Povetkin had better throw straight fast punches or else I think Eddie Chambers could beat him by decision. Hell Chris Byrd is going to be able to give him a very tough time.
Brock-Chambers: I see Brock getting frustrated and losing a decision
Byrd-Povetkin: I see Byrd wailing on Povetkin but getting caught a couple times and being less effective as the fight wears on and losing a decision
Re: So who wins this heavyweight tournament
I think Chambers should outbox all these guys. I really like Chambers style he can just sit in the pocket inside and make you look silly. This is gonna be a big step up for him but Brock wont crack his defense. Povetkin should win his fight if he's half decent...his power is the main question for me. If he's has good power, at his size he would give Chambers a rough night. Whats Wlad doing in the meantime....para-sailing?
