Enzo Maccarinelli will fight Mohammed Azzaoui on Calzaghe-Kessler undercard!
Enzo Maccarinelli will defend his WBO cruiserweight title against unbeaten Algerian-born, New Zealand-based Mohamed Azzaoui in Cardiff next month.
The 31-year-old has been brought in a short notice after the original opponent was blocked from fighting.

What do you guys think? I'd prefer Ezra Sellers to this to be honest.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli will fight Mohammed Azzaoui on Calzaghe-Kessler undercard!
the boys unbeaten thats something i suppose...
do u think this was the first major success of boxrec's 'management agent fee scheme'?
I note unlike 98% of boxers - this guy's manager has paid his fees to boxrec to make him easily contactable.
--- Personally i'd have gone with Herbie Hide as a replacement - remarkably he's rated by the WBO. would be a nice domestic matchup; add something to the bil. I'm intrigued by what Hide might have left at 200lb

Hide would beat him on a boring 12 round decision.

you sure???
Two punchers - Hide doesnt have the best chin, some have questioned enzo as well. and Hide is most likely well past his prime. I can see a number of outcomes but Hide winning a boring 12 round decision just doesnt look like one of them!
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli will fight Mohammed Azzaoui on Calzaghe-Kessler undercard!
or
Hide might beat him in 12 seconds

Never in a million years. If Enzo can handle a puncher like Braithwaite, me thinks he can beat Hide. In fact, even though I think Haye has more potential, Enzo has done more to prove it thus far, although I expect that to change in 2 weeks time.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli will fight Mohammed Azzaoui on Calzaghe-Kessler undercard!
Is Azzaoui actually confirmed?
Just read this :
Just 8 days before his cruiserweight title defense, WBO titleholder Enzo Maccarinelli has yet to have a new opponent named. Prospective foes bandied about by the British press include Rob Calloway, Darnell "The Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson, Vincenzo Cantatore and Giacobbe Fragomeni. "Macca" is set to co-feature on the big November 3 Calzaghe-Kessler showdown at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. An opening was created when the British Board of Control rejected Ezra Sellers as a challenger.

Frank is very reluctant to put Enzo in with anyone with a chance of KOing Enzo anyone else noticed this?? Im still unsure to how good Enzos whiskas are, this guy has only 8ko's in over 20 wins, looks like he couldnt crack an egg.

Yeah I read that, so I checked around to see if BBC had released anything, and I found the story. I imagine that article was written before the BBC one, as I knew about the 4 contenders fightnews had mentioned, but had not heard of the new guy until about 2 hours ago.

Well forgetting Swaby, Frank probably can't get the Bruce Scott fight out of his head.. I know I can't.
I like Enzo but 100% certain he'll end-up sparked out up in class.

Braithwaite had 18 KO's in 22 wins...so I'm not sure that statement holds true.

Frank seems reluctant to put Maccorini in with anyone with a pulse.

Braithwaite is damaged goods mate, he hardly threw a punch worthwhile in the fight. If thats the case mate why didnt he Take Darnell Ding Wilsons offer, who was willing to fight for little to nothing? I think it is because Enzo would be sent to sleep.
