Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
With the rumours that Warren and Calzaghe are splitting, here are kind of strange comments by Warren...
"This is the biggest fight since Nigel Benn and Chris Eubanks in 1994," said Frank Warren, Calzaghe's promoter. "I think this is a fantastic fight. Both styles complement each other. Kessler's style certainly does suit what Joe does best. It's just a hot fight because both guys are undefeated. Joe has been really come on in the last few years, a champion for nine years. Kessler has made a name for himself in his last eight or nine fights."

Saying it's the biggest fight since two guys he hates the guts of, and then saying how Joe has 'come on in the last few years' and been a champion for 'nine' years (when it's obviously 10). Interesting

sorry mate think your reading too much into that.
Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)

He loved Benn until they turned on eachother last year, and the war of words have continued in the press unless you've not noticed
Him and Eubank have always absolutely hated eachothers guts ;)

"That’s why I went to Frank Warren and literally begged him, as my promoter, to get Kessler."

Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
Why would Frank hate the man that stays in his country and gives him some of the biggest domestic fights of all time? that is rubbish.

Thats one thing about Warren, he's all business. He may not like you, but if he can make money off you he'll treat u right and keep you around.
An example is Tyson, him and warren actually came to blows before the Bruno Tyson fight but it went ahead and there ewas a rematch when money was there to be made.
Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
Rumour has it Calzaghe is splitting from Warren (btw)
Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
Here is what joes webmaster has to say....
For the past 10 years Frank Warren has managed and promoted Joe.
As Joe's Manager Frank Warren has picked some poor oppoenents for Joe mainly Kabary Salem, Bika etc that coupled with various other issues like using Joe as a pawn to secure contracts with other fighters like Karl Froch, Joe now wishes to Manage himself.
This means Joe will now have 100% freedom in selecting his next opponent(s) after the Kessler fight and have greater control over his remuneration for promotions, endorsements and bouts with future opponents.
This could be another great step for Joe and a step close to Joe making a step up to Light Heavyweight.
Regards,
John

if anyone knows what is happening it will be him. ;)
Warren aint the easiest guy to split from just ask Naz and Hatton :-X
Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
CC Saddo!
Well that sheds a whole new light on not only this fight but also on Joe's remaining career!!!
Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
Yep just ask Benn (the most high-profile split back in '88), Naz and Hatton. I'm sure Joe will see court cases with this clown
Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
Every boxer should be empowered to do this. Hatton and Naz have made loads of money controlling their careers and all boxers should do it. Galzaghe should have done it years ago. Promoters should work for Boxers but instead it is the other way around. The blood sucker leeches who call themselves promoters are making more money than fighters and that is wrong.
Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
Bit pointless now isnt it?
Re: Strange Frank Warren comment (that confirms the Calzaghe fall-out?)
better late than never, if he wins he can line up big money fights to finish off his career in 2008. I believe he will move up to light heavy and fight winner of Tito v Jones and/or Woods or Hopkins. He will make the money and Warren will get squat all.
