Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
Contender season 2 runner up, Steve Forbes is in line for a bout with WBA Light-Welterweight champion Gavin Rees. Communications are believed to be under way for the fight to happen and the fight would be a very good contrast of styles. www.stevieforbes.com
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
Thanks for posting this T. And welcome to the forum.
I think Forbes beats him well tbh! Unless theres a dramatic improvement in Rees before then!
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
Hey cheers for the welcome mate, and yeah i think Forbes beats Rees, would be good to see him champion again.
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
Ya it would! Rees is an ok fella, iv got nothing against him, but to be honest any admiration i have for him is bourne from the fact that he's an undersized guy at Light Welter. I feel he should drop to Light weight really.

CC mate
Hopefully Forbes can win this I really like the guy. ;D
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
I had a thought last night....
Enzo C's main guys....
Joe Calzaghe, Enzo Maccarenelli, Gavin Rees, Bradley Pryce...
They're all guys who enter the ring witha nice loose physique and never look musclebound or cumbersome...Looks like they don't use weights.
Just a thought.

i agree
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
Rees is a game fighter, there's no doubt about that, and he'd go in there 100% with an Enzo Calzaghe plan backing him. However, when he won the belt it was against a jaded and uninspiring Souleymane M'baye, whilst Forbes will undoubtedly have much more desire and will than that guy.
On the other hand, Forbes is probably less of a challenge than many of the other guys who are in the division and would love to get a shot at Rees. I reckon Rees would give Forbes a run for his money, but just get edged out on the stretch.
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
Based on ress' past performances, forbes beats him in a close one. But they say a champ improves by 25% once he wins his title....
I'd much ather see him fight Demetrius Hopkins

The thing is, I think Rees has stumbled into this title a little prematurely, and still has some work developing to do to be a decent champion, so going for the harder fights straight away would be a little suicidal on his part, so beating some contenders (maybe there was a pun intended) before some really big fights, like D-Hop, would probably be best for him.

Thing is Forbes was apparently very competitive against D-Hop and many people claim was robbed..so with that logic it wouldn't make sense for Rees to fight Forbes either. I do hope Forbes takes it though. Nice guy and a good boxer.

I think with both Forbes and D-Hop they are both "gimmick" fighters to some extent these days, with Forbes having been in The Contender and D-Hop in the vast shadow of another "Hop" who may or may not fight Calzaghe. It's a different thing being competitive and actually winning, so that's why I'd prefer Forbes for Rees at the moment.
And it sets up a potential Wales v Hopkins bill, with Calzaghe v B-hop and Rees v D-hop. Does the Hopkins clan have a decent heavyweight to go up against Maccarinelli?

Hasim Rahman, Lovemore N'dou, Carlos Maussa, Malcolm Klassen, Silvio Branco. We've had plenty of worse fighters holding world belts. When it comes to biased posters...you're up there with Royal son. :sadclick:
