former WBF super middleweight champ on assault charges
VETERAN Australian boxer Shannan Taylor was fined $600 for assault and ordered to pay $300 in compensation to his victim by a Queensland court today.
Taylor, 35, of Wollongong in New South Wales, appeared in Southport Magistrates Court where he was found guilty of assaulting bar manager Peter Francis Houston, 47, after allegedly groping Mr Houston's wife Susan, 46, in September last year.
In court earlier this year, the former WBF super middleweight world champion denied pinching the woman on the backside during a wedding reception, saying he was instead shaking hands with another guest.
