Undefeated former IBF lightweight champion Paul Spadafora (40-0-1, 16 KOs) was issued his license and Federal ID by the state of Pennsylvania today and announced that he will return to the ring next week, ending an eight-month hiatus. Spadafora resumes his career after spending 75 days over the past summer in custody for parole violation accusations that were ultimately rescinded. He will spar in an four-round super welterweight exhibition on Michael Acri's 23rd Annual Erie Boxing Classic held every Thanksgiving eve. This years's Classic takes place, Wednesday, November 21 at The Avalon Hotel in Erie. "Paul has never stopped working out and is in tremendous shape," said Acri, Spadafora's promoter. "I am very hopeful that he will be in the ring for an official bout by December or January at the latest. We are all very pleased with how quickly his timing returned and he has shown some very impressive power with his added muscle."

Spad is a fantastic fighter...but his life outside the square circle pretty much destroys any chance of him using his abilities to carry him to stardom.
No one wants to bank on him because he can't keep his ass outta the pokey...it's a gotdam shame.
I'd love to see Paul continue to rise...& I think that he's still got game...but how much is now the question.
Hell of a fighter though.
Re: PAUL SPADAFORA ISSUED LICENSE BY PENNSYLVANIA
Is he gonna fight at 154? Thats a big jump for a guy who fought his best at lightweight.

To be honest...I'm not sure that we've seen Spad @ his best...& while he is gettin up there in age...he's had a career that he has navigated through fairly unscathed due to the open cot that awaits him every few years in the pokey.
Re: PAUL SPADAFORA ISSUED LICENSE BY PENNSYLVANIA
Spaddy.... Wow! Sadly his talent/career will fall under the could have's/wasted talent lists.....
What a sweet fighter he was and at his best he was so smart in that ring, could pick off shots box well and yet trade shots.
He was more exciting early in his career as time passed he got more skilled and became a helluva boxer.
Re: PAUL SPADAFORA ISSUED LICENSE BY PENNSYLVANIA
He showed a lot of rust earlier this year in his first comeback fight. He will have to recommit himself 100% to boxing to have a chance at a sucessful comeback. The odds are stacked against him but good luck to him.

:coolclick: Very well said.
Spad is seriously over looked...but honestly...it's of his own doing. Can't get noticed in prison...apparently the only value one has while in the pokey is conditional...I'm not sure how the "ass to cigarettes" trade works...but I sure as shit know that I'll do my best to keep from finding out.
How does that work Micky...I mean...I know that you haven't served time in prison...but "ass" seems to be your specialty. ;D
How many packs of smokes would one need to carve up a slice. :-X :P  ;D
