What are you more excited about:PBF=Hatton OR Wandy v Chuck?

I know people will say they are past their primes etc and it may be true,but how can someone NOT be excited by Wanderlei Silva against Chuck Lidell. I love both fighters and a loss could disastrous for both. For Chuck,it could very well be the end. For Wandy,he will be written off and it WILL be hard to get back into the limelight so there is ALOT at stake and someone is getting KTFO(hopefully Chuck!)

In comparison,for boxing,you have Mayweather v Hatton,the champs of 140 and 147 fighting eachother. A fight that should have been made a while ago and although it is going to be a great event,and MAY be exciting,it doesn't have the same significance in the grand scheme of things.

I am excited about both but the MMA fight slightly more because I'm a fan of both guys whereas I only like Mayweather,I can't stand Hatton's style, and also because Wandy v Chuck is an important fight and is a more even fight.

What do you guys think? Both should be awesome. O0

Much more excited about Hatton/Mayweather; as I'm a big fan of both, for different reasons. I could care less about Chuck Liddell anymore, as he got exposed and I'm surprised it took so long for someone to do it. The best take down defense but his so called "striking" skills got uncovered for what they were by Rampage and to a big extent that bum Jardine. Wanderlei will k.o. Chuck and hopefully Chuck will go somewhere uncharted by maps. Silva and Jackson need to get it on again; and Chuck is about like Rich Franklin with Anderson Silva: scared to get back in with the champ even if he makes it back to the top.

Considerably more excited about PBF and Ricky, but im primarily a boxing fan so that can be expected...

Yeah,maybe I was a bit premature with saying I was more excited about Wandy and Chuck or maybe it's because 24/7 is so awesome and makes Hatton look good,but I'm more excited about the boxing match now. ;D ;D I just think Chuck Wandy is going to be such much more exciting as a fight,whereas Mayweather Hatton,much like Oscar Floyd,is goin to be a great even but I do not see it being a great fight.

I just don't think the PBF/Hatton fight is going to be very entertaining. The Silva/Chuck fight is interesting and I think has the potential to be more explosive. I think its a bit short sited to say Chuck was exposed. The man's record speaks for its self. He got caught with a great punch against Rampage, and he obviously thought he could just walk through Jardine. The Chuck that fought Keith barely resembled the guy that dismantled Couture, Babalu, Horn, Randleman, Ortiz, Metzger, Monson, Overeem etc. He was loading up with the right and looked very amateurish. Both Jardine and Quinton did somethign very smart. They moved forward but waited for Chuck to throw first and it was obvious to me this was uncomfortable for Liddel. If he gets his shit together I think he can beat Silva. Wanderlei isn't an overly technical striker. He depends on his ability to over whelm his opponents and will come straight at Chuck. I've always felt that Liddel did best when his opponent came at him and allowed him to counter. Either way it will be an intriguing matchup to see who still has it and who needs to hang em up.

I think if Chuck and Wandy happened a year ago, I'd be massively pumped. But both Chuck and Wandy are on the downslide..they just aren't the same fighters they once were. So in my mind, I'm loking forward to the PBF/Hatton fight a wee bit more. But, that'll be a bit boring..... PBF will out score him on speed, and Hatton will fight his way inside and then clinch.

Good posting,CC. I don't think Lidell was exposed either,his resume is one of the best I've ever seen. I just think he has fallen in love with his power and looked way too 1 dimensionalv Jardine. He also looked a bt pody,more so than usual,possibly because of a lack of training?

I think Chuck is favourite v Wandy,he has straighter punches and is a great counter puncher. You're right,Wandy overwhelms his foes,and has wild,wide punches but there are so many coming,from so many angles,it makes it hard to defend against. They both possess dynamite.

And I agree with that Hatton fight. I don't think it's going to be entertaining either but the whole 24/7 hype around the fgith suckers me in! Good posting though.

I agree they aren't the same fighters they were,but it's still an exciting fight with alot to gain and lose for both. Wanderlei was also KTFO by a HW and KTFO by Hendo when he was ill,I'm hoping they were important factors and Wandy has not lost the ability to take a punch,because man,has this guy been in some wars. HIs vale tudo fights alone are career shortening!

It boils down to this for me
Chuck vs Silva- Definite KO one way or the other
Hatton vs PBF- Good chance Floyd puts on his track shoes and boxes his way to uneventful UD

You're probably right. But, Jardine and Chuck, two guys who make their living in stand up, went to a decision. And PBF--nobody thinks he can hit. But he has swollen plenty of guys' eyes to stoppage. If he had 4oz gloves he'd get more KOs too. Did you see what he did to Gatti? And if I'm not mistaking, he was wearing Winning brand gloves for that fight, which are like having pillows on your hands. Yet he still closed Gatti's eyes.

As far as Chuck and Keith go. Keith obviously planned to utilize kicks to keep Chuck off balance and out work him and not attempt to try to slug with him. His strategy was spot on b/c even he admitted that he was seeing stars in the first round. And Chuck apparently thought he could just walk through Jardine and use no technique but just load up on right hands. Keith was right and Chuck let his ego get in the way. But I think we can agree that Chuck will (I hope) take Silva dead serious and we know the Axe Murderer will be out for blood. PBF and Hatton both have the potential to make a great fight but honestly what do you think will happen? Do you really think that Floyd will whip Ricky like he did Gatti? Do you think he is going to try to KO him? Floyd is great at what he does and to me doesn't seem to be a risk taker. Hatton has to make it a war to win. I think Floyd will bring his track shoes and stick and move all night. If he can cut Ricky up and take away his vision then he may try to finish him otherwise I personally think it will be Hatton chasing PBF around and eating punches all night. PBF/Hatton has bigger implication in their respective sport but I think Chuck/Silva will be more entertaning. If you like MMA that is.

I don't think what I said about Chuck was short-sighted, probably more me just talking sh#t for the hell of it ;D Yeah Chuck's resume is impressive and as I said his take down defense is the best in the game, bar none. I guess being a bigger fan of pure boxing{though I love mma and have followed it since its inception} I always have found it funny that Chuck is so feared as a striker when we all know his boxing is lacking. I understand mma has more I guess you could say, dynamics??, to it on a whole than boxing. I don't know if Rampage and his camp worked on it, but it was perfect the way he just waited for Chuck to start pawing out that right hand while always moving into Rampages power hand and leaving his left hamd down{which he has always done} and Chuck getting caught perfect. It was just a matter of time until someone figured out how to get Chuck to run into that punch, and Rampage's was perfect. I respect Chuck's accomplishments, but for someone who doesn't go to the ground and relies on countering, he should really get with a better boxing coach to teach him some better technique, and learn to keep his left up. Instead of talking down on Chuck I suppose I should have just stated my personal reasoning. It really just shows actually how bad people are with their hands as a whole in this game that Chuck should be so feared, when we all know Chuck wouldn't last too long in a boxing match. It seems more guys are interested in learning all about the ground and clinching, submissions and kicks and forgetting about the art of punching. And you can't deny how pathetic some of this stand up is. Actually I am interested n seeing what Chuck has for Wanderlei, but I won't buy that PPV just for that fight. On another note, does anyone see it as unfair Jardine doesn't get his shot at Silva instead of Chuck, who has lost 2 in a row? I know he's still a name, but Jardine should get his chance also. No need to apoligize Legion. I think Chuck could definately use some more tools in his bag. Chuck is really great at using his timing and use of strange angles when people come at him and he can counter, but your right Jackson was walking him down but waiting for him to throw first then turned his lights out. I think Chuck is probably too old and set in his ways to overhaul his striking. Honestly I think if you use boxing as your perspective you almost always will be let down by MMA striking. Same end result, but two very different styles. Liddel has awesome power and timing along with pretty good footwork, but when guys won't let him counter he is somewhat limited. If he could utilize kicks more and get more proficient at moving forward behind a good jab he'd be pretty complete, but as I stated before he is probably a little long in the tooth to make these kind of changes to his arsenal. At his age and skill he will always be a threat to a certain fighters and an easy target for others.

Yeah, as much as I love MMA and have followed for so long, I was raised on boxing. Though I took Tae-Kwon-Do for many years, it didn't do much for me, and boxing is always my 1st love, so yeah like you said if I expect to see an abundance of boxer like strikers in MMA, I will be let down. I know what to expect and it's not so much being let down as listening to guys like Joe Rogan saying"this guy has deadly striking" and it is laughable when you really dissect it. It's a comprehensive sport, but as I said as hard as it is to get Chuck on the ground and knowing he probably won't get put there, it's surprising he hasn't spent more time with a great boxing coach. As you said, he may be set in his ways and those old dogs don't change. If he manages to work back up to Rampage he better think real hard about finding the answer to his hands, cause' it will be a replay with Quinton if he doesn't. And I shouldn't have called Jardine a bum, very unfair. Though he got owned by Houston, he displayed one of the gamest efforts I ever saw. He didn't quit and kept trying to get up even though he kept getting nailed and eventually put to sleep. Tough dude to say the least. I'll tell you who is a bum, Tim Sylvia. Worst champion in UFC history....period.
