Joe Cortez will be great for Ricky

I just read that Joe Cortez will be the ref during Hatton/Mayweather Jr. 'Hug and Run' match.

I can't think of any other experienced ref Ricky Hatton can take advantage from more than he can from Cortez now. Joe is old and slower. Sure, he is firm and he is fair but he let's fights get real down and dirty on the inside. Ricky will get away with a lot of holding and I think this gives him a pretty damn good chance to beat the pop shot artist formerly known as Floyd Mayweather Jr. Ricky will take advantage of Old Joe's blind spots and maul Mayweather Jr., repeatedly.

This idea of holding as an advantage is really fukked up, if thats Rickys advantage who the fuk wanna see that crap. does'nt holding makes for an ugly boring fight people? I just get so sick of people hating on Jay Nady because he does'nt let guys hold and wrestle as if its WWF.All these Hatton fans "its not right he wont let Ricky hold".

i see the excuses are already out if hatton does manage to beat mayweather on the 8th

nice one. hatton is a rugged fighter plain and simple. the thing that will work in rickys favour will be his ability to make mayweather fight for 3 minutes every round if necessary, not the referee!!. every fight has clinches. its a fact of life

:D....It is, I never said he didn't hold, and don't think it will do him any good with Mayweather anyways.

I also hate when Floyd gets on his bicycle it just does'nt entertain me. i think floyd does pack a punch if he sat down on his punches more like when he did it in spurts against Delahoya. This fight could become one of the biggest let downs this year if Ricky hugs all night or Floyd brings his bike with him.

Even Stevie Wonder can see that Hatton's opponents grab him cos he's leaning on their chests trying to push them back or rip the body.

So now its Hatton's opponent thats doing all the grabbing and not Hatton. Some of you fools are so into Hatton its almost CULTISH. I will be honest I dont like Hattons style or Floyd's style when he decides to ride his bike. I'm dishing out $$$$ for this fight so they better entertain me with good clean boxing and not WWF stuff. I only want to see ruff stuff with the fists.

Not sure how this will play out and or help Hatton because as some one mentioned, Floyd is not a conventional inside fighter who holds. When Floyd is inside, he is just that, inside the pocket either in defensive or offensive mode but he does not hold and Ricky always benefits from a little help from his opponents when they in turn try to hold Ricky. Should be an interesting fight none the less and it hopefully will be a classic. Crossing my fingers for some action.

I don't see how any REAL boxing fan couldn't like that fight... it was great clash of great fighters. To of the top 5 tacticians in the sport going head to head.
