Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
he had alot of interesting things to say in another website. This Joe Pastore, his ex manager and strenghth and conditioning coach
ill quote him
"FACT: The injury to Kermits hand was originally sustained as an amatuer. FACT: He fought his first 24 fights wit han injured hand and one them all, 22 by KO so the injured hand excuse is wack. FACT: I have seen him quit in sparring, but I have also see him box Bernard Hopkins to a standstill for 24 rounds. FACT: I have never seen him legitimately hurt until David Estrada. FACT: Before fighting Margarito Kermit scarcely lost a round. SInce moving to Manny Steward he has gone life and death in 3 out of 4 fights against b-c level boxers. What it comes down to is basically this. Kermit is weak mentally. If you let him gain any confidence early he will most likely knock your head clean off your shoulders, but if you challenge him you have a good chance of breaking his spirit!"
Q. Kermit boxed Bernard Hopkins to a standstill in sparring?
"Sure did. 24 rounds total. All were extremely close. Sparring had to be stopped the first day because it became so heated. It was getting out of control. But yes, 24 rounds and very hard to pick a winner in every round. But, I also watch him quit against Yusef Mack, Andrew Lewis, and Erik Mitchell."
Q. Out of curiosity, what happened.. why did he move on?
"He moved on because he met a girl who wanted to be in control of him and his career, and him being the weak minded individually that he is he went for it 100%. His preparation for Margarito was laughable. He missed entire workouts. Routinely showed up 30-60 min late. Quit in the middle of sme workouts. Quit in sparring. Quit in some of his runs. Totally neglected his strength training. He would have his girl and her kid come into the gym to train. All he cared about was his new relationship, and when we tried to get his head into training all it did was further alienate him for us."
"When I say he quit in sparring I need to clarify and be more specific. He didnt stop sparring and take his gloves off. He would just submit. Go into a shell and stop fighting back. To put it in perspective go rewatch the last round or two of his fight with Margarito. Look at his face when he was looking at us in the corner. He looks for a way out.
I dont recall when it happened, but the thing was he might do it one day, then the next week he might box Bernard to a standstill, or drop Kassim Ouma. So we tried to stay positive and chalk it up to a bad day, but Marshall always suspected he lacked th heart to dig deep, but even Marshall began to believe in him when he dug in for the fight with Reid. Unfortunately our wirst fears about him turned out to be true."
Very interesting things from joe Pastore
what do you guys think?
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
he ends it with
"When it comes down to it everyine makes there own decisions. You cant force anybody to do do something. We had a formula that was flawless for 24 fights. When he followed that formula he never came close to losing. When he decided to do it his own way he lost, and has looked terrible ever since. Thats not smearing him. Its the obvious truth. All I heard when he moved on to Manny was that he was becoming a much better boxer. Well pawing with your jab and punching from your hips is not what I would call an improvement. Struggling with fighters that have never cracked the top 10 is not an improvement. Its even worse considering he is now a belt holder and has yet to face a top 10 opponent.
People on here have all kinds of opinions about Kermit, and thats just what they are... opinions based on what you see for 30 minutes of his life when he fights on TV. People had tons of questions and theories... well now you have direct inside info.
The things Kermit has said about Marshall and I were totally unwarranted and unfounded. Fatc is he was making 7.50 an hour laying carpet when we met him. We took him in trained him, fed him, and guided him in many aspects of his professional and personal life. He lived with me exspense free for 3 years. So yeah it does piss me off when he says his old team couldnt get him to the next level. He was given every luxury a fighter could ask for if he were to really want to be a champion. He had 4 responsibilities. Eat, rest, train, and fight. Now you tell me what excuse could be made for a guy who has no burden in life but to pursue his dream. We were in camp for Margarito to do everything we had done in previous fights to prepare him for victory. The problem was he wanted to do it his way. He felt he no longer needed us and could do it on his own. The results speak for themselves.
As for Manny Steward taking over. Well I think he last for performances validates Marshall and I. He never had so much as a close fight. If the version of Kermit that fought Teddy Reid and Elio Ortiz had fought Estrada or Feliciano you would have seen the blowout you expected."
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
and he talks abotu kermit's hand injury
"Let me clear the confusion and speculation here. Kermit first hurt his hand as an amateur while throwing a right uppercut. He fought with that hand injury all through his amateur career and through his first 24 fights in which he went undefeated and scored 22ko's. He went into the Teddy Reid fight with and injured hand. Did you see the right hands he dropped Reid with? Explosive. My point is in 24fights while th hand was legit. injured... did you ever see him react in the manner he did after the Feliciano fight? PLEASE. This is what Kermit said to himself the moment they stopped the fight. Thank god its over. I WON I WON.... OH SHIT PAUL WILLIAMS... ohhhhhhhhh my hand. Fall on the floor make it look good! Give me a break.
Keep on training with Manny Steward, and keep lookin worse and worse. It makes Marshall and I look better and better."
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
Williams's volume punching will have Kermit looking to his corner early, I doubt that fight happens now due to the hand.
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
CC and thanks, great read. I won't say much except it doesn't surprise me one bit. He showed what a quitter he was with Margarito; and he's a perfect example of what people are talking about when they say how important the mental aspect is in this sport.
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
Legion, what's "CC" mean
anyways, Williams fight at a range where Cintron likes to fight. I think cintron can land soemthing. if he does and Williams is still there I expect kermit to do the same thing he did in feliciano fight. And thats go to the ground and cry about his hand!
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
If this is true about Kermit, he should fight Judah just to see who is mentally the weakest.....

CC is for when someone tkinks you posted something good{or bad}{or for no reason at all for either}and give you a Cool Click or a Sad Click. Look under your name and you'll see cool click and sad click. Welcome aboard by the way. And IF,IF,IF he can hit PW he could win, but he'll have hell catching PW as Paul will stay away from that power all night and basicall do what he did with Margarito. Even if he beats PW he'll quit with Margarito or Cotto within 5 rounds. JMHO

LOL, that's what I said the other day. It would be a great fight up until one of them stopped{by themselves, lol}. ::**
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
Actually, I'll retract that statement, as at least Zab will stay in there and take punishment. He did with Cotto, so I shouldn't degrade him like that.
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
Sounds true enough. Gave me a good reason to visit cintron-margarito, which I had not seen. Just saw it and Cintron quit..listen to the commentary...Atlas can see it.
This is the final round where Cintron basically quits. Funny, I always thought Margarito knocked him out...

I'm sure there's a lot of truth in that interview and I can understand there being some hard feelings, but much of that sounds like sour grapes.

Yeah, that sounded like the bitter rant of a guy who's now just realising how much money he could have made. Granted Cintron didn't put in a good performance over the weekend, but the other kid was fighting for his life and giving 110% throughout the fight, and how he was still standing amazes me.
And heck, we all deserve a holiday right.

Pretty much
Re: Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart
You don't deserve a holiday night come fight night, you have so many days of training leading up to it that barring and injury you should be prepared. Mayweather, Roy Jones Jr., Prime Whitaker, Leonard, Hopkins always came prepared, and thats what separates a good fighter from a great fighter. ITs not that I don't believe him, but I am very surprised that Cintron boxed evenly with B-Hop or that he could even go 24 rounds judging by what I've seen.
