Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
Well I wasn't aware that he made 2 attempts.
I really haven't read the details on why he didn't make weight. Do you know if he will be fined for this?
Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
i dont think he even weighted in second time-was given an hour r so but did nothing just sat about-didnt go 4 run r get jump rope.
didnt hear anything bout a fine-but they had 2 refund tickets so some1 is out of pocket for sure!
McCullaugh had warned kiko's team(long time ago)that if kiko was more than even an ounce over and he wasnt fighting.
did kiko not make weight on purpose(i dont no but i think so)
should wayne hav fought anyway YES definately.
If any1 out there with any knowledge of what went of behind d scene's i be gratefull if you posted

Wayne should hang his gloves up.
Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
McCullaugh should be happy that the fight didn't come off. Martinez was going to smash him
Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
I was at the venue that morning, many rumours circulating
Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
Kiko Martinez vs Steve Molitor is the fight i want to see.
Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
From what we've read on the BBC website, who are stricter on the facts than other sources, Kiko tried to weigh in once, came in 1.75 lbs over the limit, and then although given an option to lose that weight and weigh in again, did not take up that option.
In my opinion, I think that Kiko lost motivation for this fight after the EBU refused to sanction it as a defence of the title, and it was shifted to a 10-round fight. After all, why would he risk his undefeated career in a meaningless bout with a guy who's been retired for a while, but it is very difficult to say how much he has left.
I think Kiko could have beaten McCullough fairly easily, but maybe he's got other options on the horizon. The one to come worst out of this is McCullough, who doesn't get a chance to see if he's still got it or not against a creditable opponent.
Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
The motivation for this fight for Martinez was entirely financial.
Anyone who in the past number of years has taken the time to follow Bernard Dunnes career will have noticed that for a fighter with less than 25 fights, still under EU level and only fighting at home against questionable opposition Dunne was being extremely well paid and there was huge financial backing behind his organistaion, although the promoter Brian Peters has no major fighter other than Dunee.
Here's how the conspiracy plays out in my mind. This is theoretical pieced together from rumours and observations so bear with me.
Dunne's backers were devastated by their fighters loss both emotieonally and financially in my mind. They had invested a lot of money in his promotion, his wages and drawing (mediocre) opposition from many obscure places in order to secure the EBU Title. They had succeded on all fronts thus far, they had got the interest of the public (6000 fans at each fight and growing and every tv set in Ireland tuned in,) they had captivated the media and they had secured a token of credibility in the EBU Title without facing anyone particularily devastating (but still having a few close ones!)
This all had come at expense of his managemnenet/backers, yet it would all pay off on World Title night.
Then the MARTINEZ TRAVESTY.
sO THEIR INVESTMENT PLUMMETED THE LOST ALL THE ACHIEVED AND STRUGGLED TO FIND A SOLUTION. dUNNE COULD MAKE PROFIT IN RETURNING AND BEATING mARTINEZ OR HE COULD BE RUINED WITH A LOSS! sO WHAT DO THEY DO. tHEY EMPLOY THE POCKET ROCKET TO FIGHT mARTINEZ. mARTINEZZ WINS; hE IS SEEN AS A LEGIT GUY, HE BEAT wAYNE THEY'D SAY, POOR bERNARD HADN'T A HOPE, BUT HE'LL COME BACK!!!
hE LOSES, THE mCcULLOUGH IS SET TO FIGHT dUNNE, which Dunne wins therefore redeeming himself without fighting Kiko.
The cancellation of this fight however throws another curveball. nO SOLUTION WAS REACHED AND dUNNE HAS BEEN INCTIVE FOR NEARLY NINE MONTHS APART FROM THAT ONE BRUTAL ROUND AGAINST mARTINEZ. I feel that Martinez knows he is above these pettty politics from people and a country fuelled on it's own arrogance and self importance and will refuse to be used by these people. Fair play i guess.
Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
Still fucking stupid on Martinez part. Just pull out of the fight with a fake injury or something instead of incurring a fine when you haven't made that much money anyway. There really was no need to piss McCullogh about. Now in alot of fans eyes, the credibility he earned beating Dunne in less than a round has diminished somewhat, and he comes across looking like a coward.

Flippin heck Donny...that's one heck of a story. Do you really think it's true though?
Re: kiko v McCullaugh-could hav been great but kiko is a chicken s#&t??
Probably a blessing in desguise for the 38 year old McCulloch, as he probably would have been the victim of a sustained beating.

There's a lot of people saying that, but he really should have been allowed the chance to take that sustained beating, in an attempt to resurrect his career.
