Over Night Sensations!!

I was reading about Baldomir the other day and it started me thinking about fighters who one minute were practically obsolete in the game or maybe I should say complete nobody's then in just a matter of one fight they are on top of everyones news list....Now how long they reamined there is one thing but fact they made it there is another...

Baldomir-Before beating Judah his biggest moment in the sun was a DQ win over Clottey....

Leon Spinks- Yeah he was a gold medalist but his win over Ali with just 8 fights turned him into a household name

Buster Douglas-- He was in the abyss of washed up heavyweights when he beat Tyson..became the modern cinderella man

Anyone have a few to add?

Hasim Rahman obviously springs to mind, Paul Williams recently maybe.

Dare I say Hatton when he beat Kostya? His name became bigger anyways, at least to many American fans it seemed. Oliver McCall with Lewis. Morrison with his role in Rocky 5??

I know its not in the same scale, but as he's been in the news over this past week, how about Kiko Martinez?

Had anyone ever heard of him before he absolutely destroyed Bernard Dunne to take the Euro super-bantamweight title?

Nonito Donaire after his shock KO over Vic D
Pavlik after destroying Miranda then Taylor.
Any of the CONTENDER winners.

If Hatton beats Floyd...you can bet your ass that he'll be one.

Ingemar Johannson, Buster Douglas, Leon Spinks and Hasim Rahman all have to be top contenders for this.

Linares is the gotdam bomb in Wacko's book...not so much Mijares...but I don't think that I've ever been that pleased with a performance as the night I saw Linares Larios live.

Arguello V Olivares? Up to that fight Arguello had a 1st round KO over Jose Legra but lost a UD to Marcel, beating Olivares certainly put him in the A league.

Most defintely Arguello over Olivares was an over night sensation.

As I saw my list again right now I realized that I completely left out what IMO is quite possibly THEE BIGGEST case of an over night sensation.

The then obscure and unknown fighter who was 67-3-9 with all of his fights taking place in his native Argentina except for 3 fights which took place in Brazil. He goes over to Italy and dethrones the champ 'La Escopeta'.
